It is with the utmost regret that I am posting this message.

A hit and run this morning resulted in the death of Joe from JWS Motorsport.

I have spoken to Wendy this morning and she is obviously still trying to take it all in, she has her close family friends around her and just wishes to spend her time today with the girls and explain and be with them.

She has told me that she will be taking Joe back to England to bury him with his brother. Arrangements for this will start when the embassy opens tomorrow.

I am still shocked by this myself at the moment and can't find the words to write without getting really angry, Joe was the victim of a hit and run early this morning.

Those of us that knew Joe, Wendy and the girls well are getting together to make sure she has all the help she needs to see the family through this sad time.

I can't believe this - I am shocked. i was with Joe yesterday afternoon for several hours taking part in a fun takraw competition organised by the Observer, and then in the evening also saw him in Crawfords watching the England game. I didn't know him very well but we talked a lot yesterday. This is awful news; my sincerest condolences to his wife and family. We have lost a man that was full of life.

This is so sad. My very deepest sympathy to Wendy and family. JD, count me in for any help needed. Although disappointed with the result, he was still very cheerful when he left Crawfords last night. We talked a little about the game and he thanked me for reserving his normal table. What an absolutely terrible thing to happen to such a good guy.

I received a heartbreaking text at 9am another respected and genuine friend has come and gone in the blink of an eye.

I am desperatly sorry to learn the tragic news of the intimely death of Joe, he will be sorely missed. My thoughts and prayers are with Wendy and the girls.

I am in the UK until 16th July, near their former home of MK, if there is anything that I can do this end to help Wendy please let her know, though I am sure she will have her family to support her.

Dear all, (Tuesday 4th July)

I don't know what to say.....Joe had a fantastic day on Saturday with Colin and the Observer sports day, the high continued to the night for the football match. The rest is a puzzle we are piecing together. If anyone knows anything please please let us know, he was crossing the road to enter our soi, literally yards from home. I have just been contacted and informed that Joe's body will be collected this afternoon from Hua Hin temple and will begin his journey back to the UK before the weekend, we will be with him, together with his mum and brother who arrived last night. On our return to Thailand we would like to hold a memorial service at the Selasian Catholic Church and I will use HHAD for posting the details.

Personally, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who has contacted me or sent messages, despite being in a foreign country without relatives I have received so much support it is amazing, you have given me strength. Nothing I seem to write here seems correct enough but I hope you are getting the idea of what I am conveying. The track will stay open and I know the staff will take care and any visits for support for them would be really appreciated.

I will need your help when we return.

Joe was a good friend who i enjoyed many beers and laughs with. I will miss him very much - we were both petrol heads.

From a fellow Karter, never had the pleasure of meeting Joe but would like to offer my condolences to all of his family and friends during these difficult times.

Do the family and friends think it was a accidental hit and run for sure as no one mentioned and the thai police are thai police.

There was another guy hit (on a motorbike) and run around the same day past dusit resort on the side heading toward hua hin. a guy and a motorbike were lying in the middle lane and the police were called by a passerby. nightime. Thais passing things like that are usually afraid to stop because of getting blamed which is very sad indeed and even afraid to ring from a mobile. That guy in the middle of the road could have being hit again by a passing truck or car with bad lights or non-attentive driver which is the other scarey thing alng with losing too much blood.
WHats really freightening is thinking if it happened to one of our own children and no-one stoping or even calling it in or putting lights down or somehing because of that fear and too much of the critical time passing.

I guess the first thing the police would have done is contact the local garages to find out if any vechicles had being in with damage to front and offer a reward as the garage owners might want to collect on both sides. Would only count if it wasn't a truck i suppose.

In some tourist places in Thailand i have seen cameras at police checkpoints before entering some towns. It might be an idea if there is not a few already to have one on each side of the town on the main road for things like that and other reasons too. I would be surprised if there are not road cameras up already in places like the airport tunnel being a royal town and all really. I imagine it likely the driver would have sped away.

I am writing from England after hearing the news about Joe on Tuesday

It has taken a while to sink in and even now I struggle with this tragic news.

Joe was a business colleague and became a friend. We shared a love of karting and over 8 years competed together in the UK in over 120 events around the country. We won many races together and even three championships. Many times we shared the journey to the tracks and over time I really got to know him. I found him fun and he always wanted to push the boundaries - and I know he would have done anything for me.

When he told me he was planning to go to Thailand to see about buying a kart track, my initial reaction was one of horror but as the idea sunk in I could only wish him luck. At the end of the day he was "living a dream". I though it was wonderful that Wendy and the girls supported him. I know he thought the world of them.

Many of his colleagues and frinds in the UK are horrified and shocked and I know many of us will want to find a special way of keeping him in our thoughts.

Nice to see some messages from Joes friends and colleagues back in the UK, sure it means a lot to Wendy and family.
Its starting to sink in now, gonna miss those calls where Joe would always say "hello boy, what you up to then?" that question frequently ended up with a few quiet of beers.

We are devasted, shocked and deeply saddened by the death of Joe, we have many happy memories of a fun loving guy, with a great sense of humour, who never wanted a party to stop, he lived life to the full, and we will miss him very much.

Joe was 'living a dream' in Thailand and things were good for him, we spent a couple of days with Joe, Wendy and the girls in Bangkok earlier this year, Joe was very happy and had many plans for his business, this is a tragic thing to happen to such a lovely family.

We became good friends with Joe about 15 years ago when we became neighbours in the UK, we attended their wedding and they are god parents to our son, they have become like family to us.
