Re: kennels
Yes, my dogs were there for a week in October.
I actually had a question about the Holiday Inn kennel. My dogs love going to kennel Europa. They love the woman who runs the place and they come home all happy and healthy (so they're obviously well treated). However, they also come home full of ticks every time. I have three dogs. The two with short hair are not such a big deal, but the one with long hair catches every single tick that goes around. Last time they were there, it took me almost two weeks to get rid of all the ticks.
So I've been wondering about the kennel at the holiday inn. I know it's supposed to be expensive, but anybody has experience with them?

Re: kennels
Yes ticks are a problem at kennel europa and I always make sure ours has a new tick collar before he goes and that really does help - not a single tick from his last visit. When he comes home I always dust him down with flea and tick powder just in case.
Re: kennels
Unfortunately the dog with long hair has sensitive skin and tick collars are really bad for him. They get Frontline every month, which seems enough to protect them from ticks on a day-to-day basis, but not enough to protect them at the kennel. Last time my Thai dog came home with almost 30 ticks in between her toes! I was able to pick them all out and that was the end of it, but still.moja wrote:Yes ticks are a problem at kennel europa and I always make sure ours has a new tick collar before he goes and that really does help - not a single tick from his last visit. Re: kennels
Unfortunately we cannot give our dog Frontline as it makes him ill. He too is a Soi dog but gets most of the tick on his back and shoulders so I am able to pick them off without any problems but he has never had as many as 30; one or two yes but rarely more. It is most certainly a problem at Europa but I do not know what the answer is?
Re: kennels
I don't know either and it's a shame because my dogs obviously like going there. The ticks on the Thai dog are not such a big deal because they're easy to find (she has short hair). But I also have a cocker spaniel and finding the ticks on him is a pain. I always end up missing some.moja wrote:Unfortunately we cannot give our dog Frontline as it makes him ill. Maybe Frontline is the problem? It doesn't seem to work as well as it did in the States. I know there's an injection for ticks, so maybe I'll ask my vet about it.
