Pie, Chips And Peas with Jam on Toast

Post by JW »

Just had breakfast in Crawfords and one of the staff was tucking in to a meat pie with chips, peas and gravy, which is fine, if a little early in the day. She then buttered some toast slapped the jam on and dipped into the gravy and pie. Never seen this combo before i was told it was lovely, didnt try it mind!

I'll never forget sitting in a Micky D's in Hong Kong and watching an old girl dip her chips in the tomato sauce and then in the ice cream sundae before eating them.

That story reminds me of somethging I witnessed in a Denny's in SFO. A lady ordered a full US breakfast with crispy bacon, sausage links, three fried eggs, hash brown and all the fried trimmings available from the menu and then on the same plate, waffles with maple syrup.

She washed it all down with fruit juice and coffee. She demanded from the staff that the milk for her coffee was low fat.

The best i saw was when we done a party at the new headrock bar.

A very nice Thai lady helped herself to Cheesecake with Roast Potato on the same plate.

When 1st in Australia, I went on a camping trip and had to endure the yanks every morning eating peanut butter and jam on their toast, it was enough to turn your stomach.

A new one in my household here that the Thai occupants find delicious is heated tuna on toast with orange marmalade. I have yet to try it so no comment. Pete

Mmmm. Mrs Jaime likes to eat them and lots of other fruit like that - with fish sauce too sometimes!

Yes, a sprinkling of salt brings out the flavour - same thing to dust them with pepper (ground) - which I came across from the eastern european workers on a mate's farm in Scotland,
