It really is true. friends just got refused and is pissed after all the money spent with decorating furnishings and garden.

Just been checking Thai visa website and the signs do not look good! It seems on the 25 May 2006 the government has decided to tighten the property buying rules!
Remember when there was a massive discussion months ago about how certain members (myself included) spoke out against buying property in a non-trading company name.....
Well it looks like we may be just proved right! Thaivisa forum is buzzing about this.
I'm kind of hoping that this may be some kind of a wind-up and everyones getting carried away by it.
But if its a fact then I'm glad I never invested money in the property market out in Thailand!

Things always change here, then change back, then change back again. I think what may be needed now Dr. Dave are some Thai Steppford(sp) wives. Can you make them in your shop to assure we can use them until short circuit do us part, to cherish and to love the houses that we bought and not blow the whistle on us?
Not mocking anyone but it sure makes sense for anyone who has purchased a house through the company route to have at least ONE trusted Thai friend or relative here who you can transfer ownership to if absolutly no other choice.
When you think about it, it's a natural evolution given the people the Big T has working for him. First they cut off what they think are social vices, then the try to intimidate the media, now they are saying..yes, we want high spending tourists but we don't want low spending foreign home owners?
All this may be leading up to something big. I guess we'll see as the next election get organized and the criminal complaints against TRT get heard by the courts. Name withheld on account of fear.

As i have said before, when we moved out here full time 2 years ago myself and wife (both farang) found a lovely house on the Dusit estate.
We were fully committed to buying and were looking forward to owning our first property in Thailand.
Thank god we listened to Hogus (a good friend of mine) and pulled out of the sale.
I now wonder what new scheme the property people will come up with to tell their clients how to buy land now?.
I rent and pay just 8000bht per month for a brand new house with the offer of a 10 year lease at the same rent.
Am i happy? you bet i am.

Here we go again, a***holes flapping. Read between the lines. The gospel appears to be that the land offices have been instructed by god that when a land transfer takes place to a company with a ‘ farang ‘ shareholder they should see all the shareholders and require proof of where the money comes from. Companies belong to the shareholders and when a company is sold it is only the shareholdings that are affected. Reread and you will see the answer. How many land transfers take place a day in Hua Hin I wonder? Where will all the shareholders park their backsides and how long before they encounter a huge backlog of docs to check? This appears to be another face saving idea in much the same way as I believe today’s meeting is.
