When can we expect it to cool down?
Never! You're in f***ing Thailand! :D :D :D

We only have 3 seasons here; hot, hotter, and f***ing bloody hot...

It came down 'buckets' last Wednesday - early morning - in Hua Hin so one never knows. It had been unusually warm though despite the comment from HHFarang !!

Thanks PET

Would the rain (not lightning storms of course) stop the sea sports vendors from renting out their stuff to tourist cheeze like moi?

I mean, we are still going to get wet!

You should be fine with water sports,

We welcome the odd rain just to clear the humidity, but it lasts a very short time and should not inconvenience you - it may not rain again for weeks !!!

I added that comment with the " " because I'm usually the one complaining about the heat the most on this board, but this year, since sometime in October, it seems to be cooler than past years, especially at night and early in the mornings as I have used my A/C less that usual and I am very sensitive to the heat. However, I played golf today and it was hot as heck out there with almost no breeze so maybe it was just an early winter... still though, it is much cooler at night that a couple of months ago.

Are you guys getting wet over there? We had a huge storm in Rayong yesterday blowing and raining sideways for 2 hours. Here we are again today with thunder, lightening and heavy rain. Rain on Christmas, never seen it before and who would believe it.   I ask about Hua Hin as the computer is saying the winds here are coming from the WSW. Pete

Here you go hhfarang:
I have just spent a couple of weeks in the North of Thailand (Phrae), and I have never been so cold here before. Did not have a thermometer, and I know that everything is relative, but some mornings it was was cruel! Thick fog along with it also. The days were warmer than it should be this time of year, but as soon as the sun started getting low, down came the temperature. It was taking until after 10-00 am for the fog to burn off and the sun come out in the morning.

Even the snakes were confused. They should be hibernating this time of year, but we had one in the house yard slithering about looking for a warm spot! There was ice on the ground around Chiang Mai / Chiang Rai, but I think only in the mountains. I normally get around in shorts with sometimes a singlet on, but a couple of mornings it was long pants, a singlet, a shirt, socks and a jacket to top it off! I guess that I have been in hot climates for too long, and combined with getting older, feel the cold more.

Yeah Nereus,

My wife is up in Loei province right now and she says the temps are actually getting down to freezing at night (water freezes over in puddles outside). She said since the Thai houses have no heating they are building camp fires in the yard in the evening to keep warm...

I think it's been a bit more tolerable here for the last few days (bar today), nice and overcast.

Hua Hin weather at end of May

Post by Jaime »

It's the school half term break here in the UK at the end of May so I was thinking of coming over for two weeks at the end of May. Never been at that time of year before so can anyone tell me what the weather is like then? I'm particularly interested in the likelihood of rain!

Cheers,

Jaime

Very little chance of the wet stuff, although there's always a slight possibility of a heavy shower for 30 mins or so in the late afternoons. It'll be hot, hot, hot.
