You are definitely not alone and what's good for the goose is good for the gander does not apply in this situation.
Not possible to generalise here though. Thailand is a large country and many different cultures. One thing I have found in common with all though is that jealousy seems to be very common.
All I can say is if she does not like it avoid it. Not alwasy possible, I know.

This a common trait amongst Thai women - our own caucasion ones too - but they don't show it !!! The good thing is that she really loves you ! With my last g/f (you may wonder why last - but that's another story !!!) it used to drive me crazy - I couldn't look at a waitress, shop assistant - anything with long hair and and a skirt ! If she was in it for the money, she couldn't give a toss who you looked at or chatted to ! GOOD FOR YOU - you have a good one. Cheers !!
You have to remember that your g/f, wife will love you to death - literally.
Personally, I never get much trouble wolf whistling the girls going to work. My wife thinks it's a laugh, which it is.
Heaven forbid I mess around. That's a whole different story and I doubt I'd come out alive.
Take a step back and how do you feel if your partner eyes up another person?
If you feel jealous than don't do it yourself.

tx for the replies , my wife and i were having a conversation along these lines when the subject turned to what she would do if i " butterfried " she proceeded to tell me my manhood would be removed from my body and fed to the dogs , i was going to laugh but managed to stop when i saw she was 1 million % serious ! needless to say im a very good boy !!

great
i was happy married for 12 years divorced 5 years ago and now I am going to get married again.
it just depends on the wife. In general I think and know Thai women are great to be with.
Anyway it is a good thing for understanding to learn thai.

Thai wives what are they like?
I hope things work out well for you and your bride to be, MartainJ.
I'm in a simular situation myself. My g/f and are to be married the first of next year and I haven't seen her since last October.
We talk to each other almost daily, even so, her friends are constantly asking her "where is he, when is he coming back, why don't you find someone else". The constant peer pressure gets her so upset. I had to alter my plans in order to shut her friends up, so I'll be coming back July 5th.
I'm constantly doing damage control to clean up some of the nonsense her girlfriends are feeding her. I truely believe that they are jealous of her.
Beware of negative influences, especially the Falang haters

One must always revisit the past in order to move ahead to the future.
Couldn't agree more with the above from Mongo Slade. Jealousy is a big factor over here.
I remember when I had a bar here that I used to walk down the soi and be joined for a second or two by a girl from another bar. We were just walking and having a chat. I knew virtually everyone on the soi in those days and they knew me.
Nevertheless, word would spead like wildfire and within an hour or so I was being accused of cheating etc by the ex.
That's just scratching the surface. Things went deeper than that. Like how come I couldn't get her a vistor's visa to visit the UK? Must be because I hadn't tried. The fact that this was one of the main reasons I left the UK just didn't sem to make any difference.
Damage limitation is the phrase. It's a constant battle.

she all alone sure thats good but is het the truth? You will never know for sure never.
If they want they play you like a baby and at the end you are in bad waters.

jealousy
Jealousy is a terrible thing and eats you from the inside. Anyone who is jealous can't be secure in their relationship because if you truly knew in your heart that you wanted to be only with that person and they felt the same then the issue of jealousy would not arise. But thats a simplistic view and jealousy arises for all sorts of reasons. Its a cliche but true, if you dont talk about things only fester and get worse you have to talk and work things out and then any jealousy can be nipped in the bud. Having said all of that, a bar girl who settles down with a man who thinks only with his little head surely isnt surpsrised by situations that promote jealousy. We don't change that much I don't think and fidelity is probably a passing phase for the bulk of men who frequent girlie bars. Statistics show that masses people split up over money rather than affairs and I have lost count of the number of bar room bores who will tell you that they control the purse strings and to "Keep her on a short rein" and always insist you get "The change". Perhaps that makes some women insecure and then jealous. I cannot imagine sleeping well at night next to a partner I didi not trust with money. I used to have an acquaintance who was a world class con man and he always said "If you dont want to be fleeced put all your trust in someone they can't handle the trust and won't let you down". I don't mean giving it over to a casual bar girl fling, but with a partner or serious relationship surely thats what they deserve and who knows perhaps the jealousy disappears. I did it myself and was called mad and crazy and stupid and whats the result, blissful trusting long lasting happiness. Thais are generous people they appreciate gifts without strings and showing trust and their culture makes them honour that debt, just takes the courage of the first step
