Long may it continue. basically iff you want rowdy nightlife which i like as well you can go to pattaya/patong but leave huahin as it is a sanctuary of calm and relaxation.
I agree with your sentiments. However, Norseman posted some photos I'd taken of HH in 1989. Can't remember the link, perhaps Norseman will oblige?
Thing is that the difference is so marked and it was only 17 years ago.
The pace of development has escalated a thousand fold just over the past 8 years. This town's on the map already through its imigration ofice, new shopping mall and property construction.
I don't think that it's going to stop here. Wait another 5 years and then see.
Just my opinion.

So Lomu, what's the next existing village/town driving south that resembles the way HH was back about 17 years ago? Thanks. Pete

The closest I can think of and have visited on many occasions, is Bang Saphang.
It's got some infrastructure and the pace of life is much slower and cheaper.

Maybe good idea to move these over to "on the road", especially if others are going to jump in.

A place like that may be attractive to someone in my situation who wants to get out of here, but really does not want to land in a new place and watch development (again) for the rest of my days.

How far is it from HH in case one desires a Subway sandwich or a game of darts? Any golf courses down that way? Pete
