I find the Thai seafood restaurants on the south side of Takiab mountain (right on the beach) to be better than the ones on Hua Hin beach, plus the beach is nicer there.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

I can never remember the names but I've eaten at the first two (closest to the mountain) and one other one further down that is pretty much the only one open after sunset and they were all good for the price imo.

BTW, These are very casual beach restaurants I mentioned. For something a little more upmarket or after dark I would recommend one of the places on Nebkahardt road like Baan Itsara (sp?).

We spend more time in Cha am and like Medsai seafood on the beach. North beach road where the road turns to gravel and enters the fisherman village.

Can't give specific prices, but fed 12 last year, shrimp, crab, fish, beers, etc, etc for around 50 usd.

Brought in a bottle of scotch and wine with no problem, or charge.

We go there 1-2 times each visit, and never been disappointed with food, quantity or prices.

The best one is called 'Apple' - Go down the soi where Anantasilla Hotel is. When you hit the beach - turn right - about 50mtrs in front of you.

Been going there for more than ten years and NEVER had a bad meal. In the early days it was a peaceful location - unfortunately these days the beach is full of sun beds and banana boats - but the restaurant remains with the same staff.

Long and parallel to beach these days - with concrete tables & columns with a straw / corrugated roof.

IMHO one of the best beachfront seafood restaurants in the HH area.

Ask for Pla Samlee (Cotton Fish) deep fried with som tam & cashew nuts - superb - and NOT on the menu and unfortunately not always available.

For something posh, Supatra does (or did, I havent been for ages) an awesome bbq seafood combo. Great setting, great food, high price.
I agree with the other comments - the two beach places next door also do great food and cheaper prices. We've had lots a good meals in both. And the ones on the other side of the hill are great. You're spoiled for choice.

If you want some good seafood at a resonable price and you don't need fancy surroundings, there's a great place on Cha Am beach about a kilometer or so South of the main access road.
I don't know what it's called, but it's an open place between a bright green hotel and some holiday bungalows in a garden.
They have excellent quality food for the price and it's away from the busy part of the beach so you can normally park opposite.

I have eaten at Apple a few times and the food is excellent and definitely worth a visit. If you want a place a little more upscale but reasonable in price then Chomtalay is worth trying. The setting is beautiful right on the beach and food is excellent. Its a little bit out of town (north end) almost opposite Palm Hills next to Boathouse Condos. They just moved to this new location a couple of months ago. Enjoy...............

We lived next door but one to Baan Isara and went twice as it was convenient.

The first time was mediocre and the second time was no better. Never went again.

We did like Yu Yen restaurant, about 150 meters further south on Naebkehardt Rd.
