You mean La Mer? Seafood, really nice views of HH? Not sure if it's still open. There was a big dispute between them & the abbot of Wat Khao Takiab. I think the land they're on belongs to the Wat. Can't remember all the details, but I have a feeling they had to close.

When we last went up there they were closed, but a friend has been there since and said they were closed for some repair/decoration works.

So basically they are now open again, but I understand they do still have the closing down/eviction order against them for sometime in the future.

I think best time to go is in the day time as the views are great, went in the evening once but the bay didn't appear to impressive, as HH doesn't seem that lit up at night.

Burger,

You must have gone there during a power cut or forgot to remove you Raybans.

As for the closure. Anything is possible after a contribution to the establishment.

La Mer is frequented by Thai soap stars, TV personalities, local politicians and senior policemen. My wife has been known on odd occasions to get on stage herself and sing a song or two.

If it does get closed down I will sulk.

Bang on,

Was there a couple of years ago and they had a Thai pop star making a video while there.

Got the feeling that it may have changed hands as the last time i went the food was not good, also they got stroppy when we pointed out they had brought the wrong order.

But used to be a great place at night with all the fishing boats lit up in the bay.

Mike.

What is it they have on their advertising hoardings? "The biggest stone frog in Thailand", or something? I've been a couple of times & not seen the frog (wasn't looking)
Has anyone seen it? Is it big? Dubious thing to be a major selling point.
