Best Phad Thai in Hua Hin?

Post by seasides »

A friend is doing a book project about phad thai - he's currently in the Hua Hin region trying to find the most outstanding, authentic phad thai.

Any recommendations?

Hi there Seasides

As I can remember his stall was in the second half of the nightmarket towards the railtracks, his stall is all wooden plus them few chairs and Tables. I can tell ya he makes His Pad Thai's to customers orders and they are reealy good. I think he's called P'Tee Phad Thai!!!

Never had one in HH that is even acceptable to my own tastes .I like it slightly less slippy than a good carbonara rather than wrapped in an over cooked egg .No congealed blob of noodles with too much sugar/msg and a teaspoonful of stale peanuts please .Never had a problem finding a good one south of here or in Bangkok .That said it is pretty much the only dish I have not found a good version of here .

Pad Thai

The best one in Thailand is in Chiang Mai over the moat in front of Mandalay club. Just a family getting some tables out every other evening and relying on the Grandma at the wheel to do the rest. Also serve amaizing gyozas and tofu stuff. Magic cooking, thanks Ma.

What I used to find to my liking and from the queues of Thais there, they did too, is down Chomsin Road from Phetkasem Road, just before the intersection of Chomsin and Naebkehat Roads.

There is a lady with a cart north of the old night market and east (?) of the main road. I wish I could remember the streets but I can't and I always wandering around trying to find it. It is there at night only.

Anyhow she has this big wok and cooks to order. Lots of Thai come up on motorcycles and buy multiple orders as well as locals on foot. Big plate for 30 bhat.

Best value for the $$ in all of HH for food IMHO. I'm a regualr when in town and get tired on overpriced tourist food.

HansMartin: Gave that one a try the other week, not too shabby, but the noodles were a kind of too moist.

She seems to make an excellent hoy thoot though.

Yep Seasides that is the one !!

Well her pad thai is a lot better that what I got today at the wat in Fremont CA and you can't beat the price. Also her pad thai does a great job of sopping up any excessive beer that might accidentally enter my stomach during the evening.

Yes it is a shame that good Phat Thai is hard to find these days as it can be so good when you find a decent one..

There used to be more in Hua Hin, difficult to understand why they are not still around as it is still very popular with Thais.

I did find a lady who used to have a stall just by the night market some years ago using a Wooden shack on Sra Song road - almost at the end near the Fire station, inland side of the road. She is not there every night but worth looking out for - she does a variety of styles and you get the stuff on the side including Banana fruit etc.
