Best internet in Hua Hin?

Post by Gnarpjohan »

Considering staying in Hua Hin for a six-month period, and for work I need a decent internet connection. I am looking for a house to rent.

Where/how do I get an as-good-as-possible internet connection in Hua Hin? I am ready to rent the house in an area where I can get it, since it is kind of critical.

Have seen that there are some choices in ADSL available.

There is no "best internet", it all depends on your location (closer to town is generally better), state of the phone lines and number of subscribers on your package. Read on for more info ...

There was also an ADSL survey conducted on here a few months ago ...

Thanks, that ADSL survey was quite useful, looks like TT&T comes out pretty well...

TT&T are very good and for about Bht1,090 per month you can get a 2048/1024 connection

Just a quick query as we are on the subject.
Any one know if there is any internet coverage in Pratnampran.
My fear is the exchange is in Pranburi and i am nearly at the end of the world.
However there are a few Bouitique hotels by the sea and they have e mail adresses. So maybe they have coverage and i can hitch hike a wireless connection off them. Obviously i would have to go in range.
That would be a bugger of course, having to go to the beach to go on line.
(Doesn't sound so good in the rainy season)
Just delving into your mental data base guys.

I have that service in the UK. 8 mb at home. (bless BT) I have what is called a dongle. which i use when out and about.
It connects to the internet via mobile phone.
As slow as a granny on diazepam.
I have used the internet cafe opposite the bus depot in HH.
Very impressive on WI FI.
Obviously i will have to sell my wife & kids in Pratnampran and move to HH. :D

Hi komfortablynumb

I live in one of the remotest sub-villages of Paknampran and I have a 2 mb connection (theoretically) from TOT.

We also have free wireless here for customers.

It's a very reliable line but the speed does fluctuate.
I've just done a speed test and am presently getting 1.13 Mbps download.

The main village of Paknampran does have an Internet shop and most of the resorts down the beach appear to have connections.

One word of warning about TT&T (Maxnet) is that their SMTP servers are very unreliable, they only have one server for the whole country and its constantly overloaded. So if you need to do a lot of emailing on your own domains pick another provider.
