Thanks Sarge,... always looking for more choices in health care here. The only place I (semi) trust now is the Polyclinic. I know that Hua Hin Gov Hospital has expanded their buildings and services recently and would be happy to hear of any experiences there.

I avoid San Paulo like the plague because of a previous visit, other people's stories, and their prices so I would like to find a better hospital. I've also been to the parent hospital of the Polyclinic up in Petchaburi a couple of times but they mixed up my chest x-ray with someone else once and scared the hell out of me saying I had a heart problem. Went up to Bumrungrad for a full checkup including treadmill test and had no problem. The problem was an extremely enlarged heart easily visible on the x-ray. The Bum x-ray as well as a couple of others I've had since then show the heart normal size so I know that Petcharat mixed up the film (and some poor bugger with a heart problem is running around, (hopefully!), thinking he is healthy!

HH i would not be here if it wasnt for my doctor and the Hua Hin govt Hospital i dont proclaim it is anywhere near perfectly equipped but my doctor (who due to workload has a nurse with a stop watch when he is dealing with patients) is a superb guy he listens and advises me and doesnt let me or Mrs Sarge feel that he isnt interested he lowers dosage if i ask raises it from what he sees from tests and explains why and gives me bollockings for smoking or putting on weight a damn nice fellow and he has my trust
I am in again for my 2 monthly pep talk soon because i said monthly was too often and could lower his workload i am pushing for 3 monthly but so far he wont risk it

sarge,
There used to be a hospital in the building behind where Index is now, but it hasn't been for at least 5 years - the Observer was there for a while and Surf FM is (or was) based there too. Would that be the other one you are thinking of?

Seriously, there are a few - look here http://www.expathuahin.com/health-huahin.php to start.

One thing confuses me whittler, if you know you're going to Hua Hin/Cha Am, why have bought insurance that does not include those areas. If you need to travel to Bangkok for something serious, you'll probably be dead by Petchaburi. Seems like false economy to me.

Hi guys, whittler here. I just found out some news from my insurance co.

I can go to any hospital or doctor, anywhere in Thailand. If I go to one

that is listed in-network they will try to work it out that I don't have to

have any out of pocket expenses. Now, If you had to have a serious

operation, knee replacement, maybe disk's fused, and you had time to

pick any hospital, which one would you go to ?
