Philippines baby!

Thailand is easy but there are plenty of easier places if you have the means and the inclination.

I love Central America. Costa Rica, Honduras, Guatemala but because of old girlfriends there my Thai wife is not real interested.

Told her they were big countries, but no go.

I used to live in Java, it’s a great place except that parts of it are over-populated and the potential for political violence is far worse than Thailand.
I lived in Surabaya for a while which is in the east and that’s a nice area with the added attraction that you can drive to Bali via a ferry for weekends away.

It has some great old colonial Dutch architecture, I used to go to a hotel that had been converted out of a Masonic lodge and there is another one that is very close to what the old Raffles was like.

There are also some great mountainous volcanoes that you can visit within a days drive.

Also after living in Java you will never complain about Thai driving again; the Thais drive like the Swiss when compared with Indonesians!

Exactly the same but in the opposite order

Phils has one of the better long stay programs (has a minimum investment requirement though). BKK flies direct to Angeles now btw.

Laos, Cam, Viet, either live in the capital or teach your kids yourself and don't get sick.
