Most recent I know of was end of 2017, less than a year ago. Schwab are still very much accepting online applications - see here.

Steve,
how are you getting on with your TW Borderless account? I am interested after a disappointing start with my Barclays Isle of Man $ account.
Do you use this as your main income account? I would be receiving my salary into the TW account and using it to transfer to the U.K. & Thailand when necessary.

Yes, it works fine, I've had no problems with it at all. I use it alongside other accounts but I have colleagues who have their salary paid into it and I haven't heard about any problems.

Has anyone managed to send from Thailand to the UK with TransferWise? from what I can see they only receive to Thailand and not send out from Thailand. If possible, how did you manage it?

Cheers.

Sending from Thailand with Transferwise can't be done as they don't operate in Thailand.

Thought it was too good to be true. Absolutely useless for me then.
Oh well, back to fighting the evils at the bank.

Has anyone tried the ‘Assets’ stock option in Wise and has it been any good?

I didn't know about that but I've just had a look and it's only available on UK registered accounts.

yeah I read that and checked my account which has a Thai address on it. No option for changing your jars to stocks.
Was just curious to know if anyone had tried this.
Thanks,

Thinking of setting one of these borderless (now renamed to multi-currency) Wise accounts up now that I can't use PayPal any longer.
https://wise.com/gb/multi-currency-account/

For those that have one how does it work? Can you pay into it from anywhere in the world and maintain a balance or is it just for transfers? How about the card, do you have to be resident in your own country to get one or will it accept a Thailand address (where will they send the card)?

Should I do it with a VPN from the UK? Any advice appreciated (getting away from banks is the ultimate aim).

Currently using crypto stablecoins to transfer in but Thailand is hellbent on cracking down on that too so need alternative options.

My $-salary is paid into my Wise account from the U.A.E. and I've transferred $ from my Barclays Isle of Man account in the past. Have had no issue with it.
My address listed is in Thailand and only benefit I see from setting up in the U.K. is the shares option on your savings jars.
You can keep a balance in your account and setup jars for savings funds, etc. Not that it's really worth it as no interest is paid unlike my Revolut account where I can make 0.65-0.7% paid daily (woopee).
I transfer into my U.K. account or Thai account and preferable when the exchange-rate is favourable.
I don't have a card and don't see the necessity for it as I have a U.K. card, Thai card and Revolut card for international travel. Would be interesting to see what ATM fees & exchange rates the Wise card has if using in Thailand.

I mainly use it for transfers, I originally had it registered in the UK but moved it to Luxembourg after becoming resident there after Brexit. I've never tried to fund it from my Thai account, only from the UK and Europe.
I find the Visa card handy for international travel as you don't get silly foreign currency fees for buying a drink in an airport and things like that, there's no charge for having it anyway.
I just fund my account once a month for any transfers I'm planning and keep a bit of credit for emergencies.
As for setting up the account, you do have to send a photo of ID and proof of address, so if you wanted to set up an account from the UK you would need at least a driving licence with an address you could use.
