Ironic, I was in VFS today putting my girlfriend's visit visa application in.dalmatiandave wrote:No, not at all.Matlot wrote:DD,dalmatiandave wrote:Just for info today I received a call from the VFS Global in Bangkok telling me my daughter's passport is ready for collection. Maybe a record for action as I gave in the application form on the 19th August and today is the 31st (12 days).
For info I am not married to the mother and I did not register the birth prior to applying for her UK passport.
Please note that they not only require a colour copy of every original document in the list (Thai and UK) they do indeed require a colour copy of every page of the UK passport of the parent and a colour copy of every passport page of the child's Thai passport if they have one. They only required colour copies of the ID pages of the girlfriend's (mother) passport. I had read on some forums you only need the UK (father's) entire copied passport but I found out to my cost it is also copies of the child's Thai passport. Like an idiot I also only did b/w copies of the Tabien Baan books.
In the UK passport office b/w copies are 3 baht and colour copies are 25 baht. Of course not much needs to be in b/w.
I asked the security who suggested using the offices on the ground floor for copying. Found a place that offered colour copies for 10 baht a page but also met a guy who wanted 20 baht. Of course with the extra pages I needed it came to 370 baht (37 pages).
Service in the actual passport office was excellent and they were professional and helpful.
The main word to remember when preparing documents is obviously 'colour'.
I am very happy, we can now go ahead and apply for my girlfriend's UK visa for our trip in December, much earlier than I expected. She has been twice before.
Did you have any problems with the email address when trying to book your appointment in BKK to submit your application? I don't know if I am doing anything wrong but every time I send an email with my 3 dates as per the instructons, all I'm getting back is an automated reply informing me to send an email via the same email I'm actually using!
Thanks.
I must admit supplying 3 dates without seeing an expected availability table was odd but I received an email a couple of hours after requesting dates.
My dates were for 10 days ahead of the email sent date.
