I know two older couples on mu soi that fascinate me-- the husbands are Euriopean and their englishi s VERY basic--the wives are Thai and their English if anything is even more basic. But, their common language is English. One advantage they couldn't possibly have a fight, their English isn't good enough.

Whilst I'm not really in agreement with the sweeping statement which is the title of this thread, I do see many odd couples that perplex me as to how they got together and have stayed together. I am also curious as to why so many foreigners take the grandma style type of girl that couldn't pull of a racy/hot outfit if their lives depended on it.

OK...we all know the really hot girls can often be a problem with baggage and attracting the wrong kind of attention everywhere they go, but there surely is some middle ground here.

I would like to point out that not all foreigners are absolutely horrible when it comes to relationships. Some settle for the emotional gifts of the female and put a lot of weight on how well you go together -- putting aside the glamour gained from walking a breathtakingly beautiful Thai girl down the street on Saturday's eve.

:agree: You're right, there surely must be some middle ground here I just haven't found it.
Good Luck.

Couple of thoughts here.

First, there is the middle ground between the "grandma style" and the "hot girls". My wife never wears anything racy because she has old fashioned values. Which is the key reason she got my attention in the first place. Looks great but doesn't show off.

Second, if you're not in your 20s or 30s, why would you want a girl who is in her 20s? Even forgetting about the cultural differences, there is the life experience difference that will get in the way.

For me, personally, there is a lot of responsibility as well.

You can't just say "hey, i got a girlfriend", do your dirty bits and then go thinking it's over, because it's not. No, now you have got to buy a new car, clothes, shoes, or whatever.

Not much unlike Western society, these new girls know and appreciate the value of modern cosmetics. And the prettier she is the costlier it gets. You wait it out. And you go try talking things out but you know, it really is heavy like that.

The guilt. The fear. I mean it never goes over.

At the same time that's what makes it exciting too. A girl settling for obviously less is perhaps found unattractive, or so you could say.

I do not think anything "goes" with it, per se.

But you need to be smart and think things through, you know. Some girls are going to be meanies and some are more buoyant. In their way of act and movement, their behavioural patterns, temper, conviction, etc.

It just takes more work to settle for a less horrible one, that is it.
Because face it, all these girls (and by that i mean not only thai girls, ALL GIRLS) are horrible in one way or another.

I learned the hard way. Be smart, and think things through.

Thinking always helps.

My father told me--- the most honest straightforward relationship between a man and a woman is the one between a man and a whore. Their motives are simple--- he wants sex and she wants money. They both understand the exchange.
