I do most of the shopping myself and almost all of the cooking. Shopping easy. Get the list written in Thai and sit in the pub while the motorcycle taxi goes and gets it. It is 3 pm and my only mission was to get a bag of fresh lemons which took me 2 beers to wait for delivery. As for the sexist angle. Last night I made crumpets, from scratch, and explained the 2 definitions of the word.

Now I know everyone likes a good muffin but asking if my other half wanted her crumpet buttered this morning involved a very swift dodge from a left hook and a leg heading somewhere that could have been painful. Better not ask if she wants her bird stuffed for sunday lunch

I remember meeting someone a couple of years ago who used to turn up at the bar mid afternoon and give his shopping list to one of the girls to go to Tescos on her scooter, it's definitely the way ahead if you need groceries. ( If I was alone I would just eat in the pub and save the hassle of shopping and cooking in one go!)

Agree that men have been put in their place well and truly. The modern age has turned us into pointless robots with ATM capabilities. But I still do enjoy a bit of shopping but not groceries. Easier to simply eat out unless you have a pack of ankle biters

Hey, I look at grocery shopping as a way to get out of the house and have some alone time, yet stay in an air conditioned environment that has easy parking. All the things that annoy me here are absent while I shop (except the damned store staff blocking all the aisles while they restock the shelves during peak shopping hours :banghead: ).
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

^ That's what I do, I was and engineer so I'm very logical and organized (hence my unhappiness living in Thailand) so I make a list asking my wife what she needs and I go shopping and enjoy it. Since marrying a Thai woman and retireing here I have a sad life so grocery shopping is the highlight of my week... :o

So Dozer, as a minority perhaps you could get a grant from some NGO to help you integrate into the mainstream of society.
