Dual pricing at Thai attractions
Re: Dual pricing at Thai attractions
Well put dtaai-maai, I agree 100% with you and as for hassling the ticket clerk over the policy, that's just wrong.

Unless its a scam as I suggested earlier.dozer wrote:hassling the ticket clerk over the policy, that's just wrong.
If they don't issue a 'Farang' ticket, how do we know where this surcharge is going? Re-enforced by the "She thought about it for a while, apologised and gave me entrance at the Thai price, asking me not to tell anyone or she would get into trouble !!!" comment. If she didn't make up the difference out of her own pocket, how could she have done this?

Big Boy I fully understand your stance, but I was talking about REEM who said
"If I cant talk my way in at the local price, then I turn my car round and leave, but not before my Thai wife and myself have made our feelings clear, given the ticket booth attendant an earful and asked them to pass it on to their superior."

"earful" was perhaps not the right word to use.
I have never hassled, raised my voice or intimidated a ticket clerk over this. It is neither the ticket clerk, nor any of the local employees who set this policy.
I am quite capable of expressing my feelings and making my point in a reasonable, friendly and non threatening way.

Re: Dual pricing at Thai attractions
Appears its getting worse around here. When the elephant village, snakes, crocodiles was opposite the banyan estate the pricing seemed fairly reasonable. They have now moved further down the petchkasem road on the road on the right up towards the fishing people. Today, my Thai wife and children were there and they were asking 150 baht for admission, but a foreigner with them was asked for 1300 (!). Apparently that was for a package, which foreigners now have to buy. A protracted argument by the thais made no impression. I have been to the old place dozens of times over the last 6 years, but I don't think I will be going to the new place.
Anyone with a worse rip off ? :-)

Is the dual pricing based on race, or just nationality i.e. non-Thai?REEM wrote:Because it is not based on race or nationality.

I have, so far, found it to be 'tourist' or 'non-tourist'!! (i.e. you live here or you don't)
