First time I could understand the cost as the leg was broken in 3 places so I guess it took quite a while to set and dress. Regardless of the cost I could not question the service and facilities they are exceptional

The daily visits that required a vet plus nurse for about 30 minutes each day never cost more than 200 Baht, and even when they did their diagnostics to check progress (3 hours tying up a vet plus nurse and lab staff), costs rarely reached 1500 Baht.

[Edit] And there's free flow complimentary coffee and Internet for those long visits.
Like you BB, our dog needed meds that, we were told, were cheaper on the outside, can't see Bangkok Hospital doing that!!

Our visits now are with two specialists, include blood tests, and new meds, costs usually 2,000 or less, no complaints here

After the previous replies on the thread you started last week (now merged with this one), obviously you need to define 'professional treatment'. I honestly don't know what you're after if the previous responses didn't work.

Sorry about any confusion, I dd make a request under Best Vet in town but if you read this thread from the start, my original question is not shown but there is a comment by SteveP about treatment for a broken leg and service and facilities being exceptional but there is no mention of which vet they are referring to? This is followed by your name and also migrant but again no mention of a particular vet. Am I missing something at the beginning Here?
To clarify what I am asking for is for a recommendation for a good vet where from experience someone is very pleased with the service and treatment given to their pet. Professional meaning that the correct diagnosis and medication for the condition was properly given. I would gratefully welcome the name and address of such a vet. Thank You.

Everything is still there - probably down to the way you're accessing the forum.

I always go in, and select the New Posts button from the Quick Links button.

[Edit] You already have several answers giving exactly what you are asking for.

Jacko, my comment regarding the broken leg was for the Kasetsart Veterinary University which is excellent but in our case was expensive. We now go to Dan Tiau Pet Hospital on Pala U Road a little past Big C going out of town, service is also excellent, they also speak English

Hi all,

Great thread. Being a natural born pessimist I like to have a plan for everything, so I'm reading with interest. But I have a couple of questions.

BB - the vet at the top of 56 Soi, is it fully 24 hour and do you have contact details, or do you just rock up? And would the mobile vet (phone number please?) be good if the dog maybe shoudn't be moved, or are they only for routine stuff (like jabs as you mentioned)?

Kasetsart Teaching Hospital - Not reading Thai, I can't get their address from their website, where are they please?

Last - if my dumb girl (the dog, of course) gets bitten by a snake I can identify, where would I get antivenom, a human hospital or vet? I'm nearer San Paolo than Bangkok Hospital (I'm up Black Mountain way, but not posh enough to be in Black Mountain).

Cheers, have a great NY eve! I'm at Angie's Bistro tonight for food, drink and a little jigging around. :)

I don't think they are officially 24 hours, but there is usually a vet on duty to take care of inpatients. We have taken a friend's dog there after midnight, but not sure if we were just lucky being seen. 032/514-246, 081/4253-6420
the mobile vet (phone number please?)
0817 058350. We use him mainly for injections, but have used him when our dog was sick in the early days of living here. The big restrictions are:

- He doesn't come out until after normal surgery hours (never found out where his surgery is).
- He has no diagnostic equipment with him, so is limited in what he can do.
Kasetsart Teaching Hospital - Not reading Thai, I can't get their address from their website, where are they please?
On the Pranburi Road. Turn left immediately after the last Khao Takiab turning. You will see the turning to Banyan on your right. It's a huge set up inside huge grounds. Even though it's for pets, probably the grandest looking hospital in the area.

Sorry, no idea about anti-venom. I'll await that answer with interest.

BTW, there is this link that might help http://www.expathuahin.com/pet-care-huahin.php

Thank for all the replies. Re Tan Diau a couple of years ago they had 2 male doctors who spoke good English and their diagnosis and treatment was excellent, prices very reasonable also. However in the last 18 months or so I have not seen either of them. the support staff remain very caring and good with handling the pets but the new doctor does not seem as knowledgeable or confident in dealing with the complaints my dog has had, neither of them being resolved satisfactorily despite several follow up visits. Now I know where to try and see if they can clear the conditions. Many thanks.

Kasetsart Teaching Hospital on the Pranburi road just south of Hua Hin. Used them for years with no complaints.
