Child traveling to Thailand

hello everybody
I would like my grandson to come to Thailand in july/august
he is 10 years old and would be traveling on his own from Paris to Bangkok
any advice on how I can do it is very welcome, airline who provide that kind of service, cost, safety, etc
please let me know your experiences and recommendations

Long flight for an "UM" Its not the flight its the logistics at the departure and arrival airports really.Escort to gate and hand off to flight crew and from arrival gate to the customs clearing and least the mayhem that is swampy(Bangkok Int airport) Maybe a bit much for a 10 year old? . Papers saying he can travel and up to date passport with more then 6 months till it expires. Have you thought about going and getting him and then taking him back. I know the costs just a question. As for airlines and safety..Google is your answer.

My children did this many times, they were a little older than 10. I was VERY impressed how well they were looked after. In every case at the destination a flight attendant took them through immigration and delivered them to the person meeting them.

Good info. Many children travel unaccompanied every day on the airline system. All major airlines provide a safe secure procedure for the collecting and delivering of children from drop off to pick up. During busy periods (summer holidays) some airlines even provide escorts onboard to facilitate the transport of many children on popular routes.

I would think if you are happy then the process will be very simple, safe and save time and money. Look at the airlines on the route you are interested in and check their own procedures for the carrying of UMs or YPs (young persons)

My children always had with them lists of telephone numbers of people at both ends. One thing my daughter hated, they had big smiley faced badges attached to them with their names and routing on it.

They used to have little wallets hanging around their necks with all the pertinent information contained within offering all contact details especially in relation to who was picking them up at the final destination. Without that info airlines will not accept children for onward travel.
