Fast track at Swampy

Post by Ralfredo »

Hi all!

As we all know the lines before the passport control at Swampy sometimes (every time?) can be really frustrating, when arriving tired after a long flight.

I happened to stumble upon this fast track coupon.

Has anyone tried it? Is it worth the money or a real scam? How much time do you save? Does it work? Are there other alternatives? Any comments appreciated!

I just arrived on business class on Emirates and was given a fast track coupon. Worked well straight through .......then had to wait for my bags.....so I don't think I'd bother paying for the service.

I think that most of the airlines provide the fast track coupon to business class travellers. What I normally do is look at the queues and if they are long, I use the coupon, if not I use the normal lanes and save the coupon for next time.

As one of the plebs who can only travel 'cattle ' class, never had a problem at Swampy unless it was at time when multiple flights arrived,
even then found it was no worse than any other airport I have been too.

You get it on Qatar with Silver Class as well, left, just past the main immigration point and out in 5 minutes.

Great for me as I only normally bring hand luggage.

Great website btw.

Ralfredo,

Have never used it so don't know if it's a scam or not.
But if you look closely at the specimen pass it has a space for the Airline Stamp.
Am just wondering if the officials would accept it without that stamp.

Let us know if you decide to go for it and how you get on.

Immigration has improved quite a lot since they reorganized their procedures. IMHO two things have really helped:

- Having a single line that feeds into the individual workstations. This means that no one gets penalized for choosing the wrong line.

- Having officers pre-check passports and immigration forms before travelers reach the workstation. This insures that people are actually ready to be processed.

Since they made these two changes I'm always through Immigration before my bag arrives.

Used to get them when flying on Qatar business class. However - they may get you through immigration quicker but if your bags were checked in in economy then you can be in for a wait.

I used to fly Qatar business class a lot (to & from Doha and then to & from Hanoi). So the bags also got priority.

I once made it from the plane to the taxi outside in 13 minutes flat with the bag first off the belt and using the coupon.

Not flown in or out of Swampy since last December - so with the immigration changes things should have improved.

Yes, immigration has been improved a lot this year. My last flight out in April was late and I only had about 40 minutes to catch the bus which I thought wasn't very likely but I made it from the gate, through immigration and was at the bus counter in 25 minutes which you wouldn't have done in the past. ( I only carry hand luggage.)

Business with most airlines give you this coupon free and it works excellent and fast. The other option is to chat with a Thai, preferably female and just walk with her to the Thai passport desk to the right, I have done this twice and there was no questions, she just stated we were traveling together and no issue

if you travel Business class and don't get one of these, just go to the right hand side at immigration queues to the counters there (i think there are three of them) show your Business class boarding pass and passport and they will process you.

I recently travelled through Dubai and have e-gate activated on my Emirates FF card, this enables me to go through electronic passport control without standing in line or getting my passport stamped, absolutely fantastic system. Dubai always has huge queues waiting at passport control even though they have a large number of immigration desks. the only waiting I had was about 15 seconds for the card to be read.

Sooner Thailand introduces this the better.
