Egypt Air

Post by Gail »

Has anyone on here ever flown with Egypt Air? Looking to visit family in the UK in a couple of months and so far they are the cheapest. If anyone out there knows of any other low cost airline or offers I'd be grateful if you'd let me know. I usually fly with Qatar or Ethiad but they are so expensive at the moment.

Buy cheap, buy crap

The weeping willows cry
The mountains dark are jagged teeth
Against a leaden sky.

Cairo airport is amongst the worst.
Try Eva air they sometimes have offers and it's a direct flight.
Otherwise via India if you're looking for cheap cheap (Kingfisher or Jet)

Well, if you pay peanuts, you'll get monkeys

Before being retired I used to work for an European Aeronautical Group and Egypt Air was well known for saving money on maintenance.
On board service is one thing, but air safety is another.

Try Oman Air. They are willing to get market share between Bangkok and Europe and as a consequence are well priced. They have brand new A333 & 332. As far as I know, they are of good reputation for air safety.

:agree:
More leg room
More baggage allowance
New(ish) fleet
Very cheap - you can still get return from UK to Bangkok for well under £400.

There is a thread in On The Road all about Oman Air.

my wife once flew Egypt Air from Sydney to London business class- spent far too long between planes in Cairo.
No alchol but being Business service was OK. Airfare was very cheap so they could fill seats. She wanted to bring the mother-in-law to Sydney also business class but Gypo Air wanted double the airfare because London -Sydney was more popular than Sydney -London?
Have gone cheap BKK-Helsinki-London with Finnair, it was OK. nice robust friendly stewardess's on board.

Have been forced to fly them a few times on business, due no other choice, and couldn't agree more with the comments above. Cairo Airport is the pits, even the business class lounge. Maintenance is renown to be poor, just look at the rest of Egypt, and service on board poor.

Suggest Oman, Eva or any other of the Gulf airlines, though Emirates seems to be shooting up in price these days.

Wife and I flew them two years ago from BKK to Beijing business class because it was so cheap. Everything was OK on flight.

Don't know about other comments listed above. Want some excitement fly Air India which I call the Duct Tape Airline. Duct Tape on everything to keep it together in the cabin. Broken seat tray, non functioning entertainment system and all openings taped together in bathroom. Not surprised they had a serious crash recently.
