I've seen them before in our attic, or at least a workman got freaked out when seeing one. They can get quite huge and seem to like dark spots. When seen here at the house, we were getting our attic insulation foamed and shortly after the thing showed up on the ceiling in the upstairs office, apparently driven out of its previous home by the foam application. The wife has asked but never received any answer that it's dangerous, or exactly what it is. I think the size just shocks people. After that day I've never seen it a second time so assume it has found another good hiding spot. :D Pete

I think they are of the group of spiders called 'Huntsman spiders' but I've no idea which ones are native to Thailand. I don't think they are dangerous to humans but the larger ones move extremely fast and can give you a bit of a fright.

Yes, I agree. Here is a photo link and that's what I recall seeing.

Could be a wolf spider, we've had a few of those in the house here before and they get quite big. I'm an agoraphobic; can deal with small ones but the big ones give me a panic attack. I had to get the wife to deal with them.... well actually their dead bodies after I threw a heavy book on top of them.

Now I am going to have trouble sleeping tonight after doing that google image search and seeing all those spiders!
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

He is a friend of the family with sharp fangs, so steer clear of him, especially when he is pissed.
I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.

spell check failed on my above post... I'm and "arachnophobic" not "agoraphobic"!

The big buggers scare me half to death too HHF!

We get a fair few big ones in these here parts on the edge of Bangkok. Including the legs, they can almost be the size of the palm of my hand. A good whack with a shoe is the only option for me. Harmless or not - he 'aint gonna share a room with me. Ushering them towards an open door never works for me either, as it always ends up being me that's running out the bloody door!

The huntsman spider preys on insects such as cockroaches. They are on our team.

The spider in the OP photo needs to go to the spider hospital and see the orthopedic surgeon, as it appears to have a couple of legs missing. :(

It seems I have a new lodger......Caught this one earlier today having a wonder across my kitchen floor. It appears to have a 'sack' under it's body which I am assuming is carrying eggs. Anyone out there know if it's poisonous or not. If it's a good one I'll release it into the wild, if it's poisonous I'll decide it's fate later
