It doesn't matter about the politics so much anymore, the economics of alternative energy are now taking over. Who is going to use fossil fuels when other forms of energy are cheaper? Basically countries that don't make the change are going to get left behind and those who keep on investing in the fuels of the past will get hurt the most.JWWhite wrote: ↑Tue Jun 05, 2018 11:10 am Climate Change Has Run Its Course

A lot more than just Thailand. As long as there's oil in the ground, alternative energy sources won't be allowed to by utilized.

Highview Power Launches World’s First Grid-Scale Liquid Air Energy Storage Plant
https://www.renewableenergymagazine.com ... e-20180605
LAES technology makes use of a freely available resource - air - which is stored as a liquid and then converted back to a gas in a process that involves a 700-fold expansion in volume and produces zero emissions. This expansion releases stored energy, which drives a turbine to generate electricity. In addition to providing energy storage, the LAES plant converts waste heat to power using heat from the on-site landfill gas engines. A unique advantage of LAES technology is that plants can be located at the point of demand. No exotic metals or harmful chemicals are involved. The plant comprises mostly steel which has a lifespan of between 30 to 40 years, in comparison with just 10 years for batteries. At the end of life, an LAES plant can be decommissioned and the steel recycled.

CLIMATE FOLLIES—THE DAY AFTER
It seems my Wall Street Journal article referenced yesterday, “Climate Change Has Run Its Course,” has upset the climatistas. It was the second-most read article in yesterday’s WSJ, generating, at latest count, nearly 1,400 comments. It blew up Twitter.

The price of both Lithium batteries and solar PV panels are dropping, at least by 50% by 2020 and most likely by more and the price of oil is going up, so where do you think the clever money is going to go?

Some Republicans want more solar despite Trump’s love for coal
https://www.greeleytribune.com/news/som ... -for-coal/
" ...13 of the top 25 congressional districts in terms of solar-generating capacity are represented by Republicans, Hopper said. Nationally, the industry has seen a 168 percent jump in jobs since 2010 — totaling more than 250,000 last year, according to The Solar Foundation, a nonprofit organization. A separate report showed the solar industry employs more than the country's coal, nuclear and wind businesses combined.
And it is poised for further growth this year. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics has forecast that solar-photovoltaic installer will be the fastest-growing occupation of the decade to 2026, outpacing health care, information technology and other career tracks."
