They'd actually gone a fair way past Khao Tao the last time I went that way. When I say past Khao Tao, I'm referring to the Khao Tao turning with the 7-11 on or near the corner. I also noted that they've built a nice little car par where you can park your car before exploring on your bike. Of course, TIT, so the car park will most likely have been turned in to a couple of stalls selling Som Tam and pineapples.

At the moment it's 10km long and stops by a school 5km past Koh Tao, doesn't look like much in the way of any work to extend it at the moment (ride it most days great path). The school it stops at is called Ban nong hoi

Went to one of the garden centres this morning at Khao Tao on Petchakasem Rd and the staff were moving their plants further back. They said it was for the extension of the cycle track towards HH.

I've just been for a cycle this afternoon and they've now put some parking in at the Hua Hin end, just before the Vetinary university, which is handy for taking the bike by truck.

They have also extended the cycle path north from the Veterinary University to the shop house near Soi 91, and are installing shelter and toilet block opposite the 7 Kings Park.

I've just taken my wife to the noodle shop at the end of Soi 156 (she reckons their noodles are spot on). I was sat with her for about an hour - in that time, rather than sit and watch her eat, I was watching the road and the cycle track beyond. In that time, I saw 1 bicycle and numerous motorcycles using the track, despite all the notices that motorcycles are not permitted. TIT :? .

Are you sure the sign says that motorcycles are not permitted? I'm not familiar with that particular stretch but all the signs that I have seen along the route say that motorcycles are permitted?

The signs I've seen definitely used to say no cars or motorcycles, and they even had traps in place to stop the motorcycles entering (not that a mere trap would stop a determined Thai). I must admit that I haven't looked for a few weeks.

As you go towards Pranburi, there is a short track on the right hand side where motorcycles are permitted.

I cycled it yesterday and there was the odd motorcycle on there but not enough to cause a problem.

Yes, I wasn't surprised, but thought I'd mention it. Crossing to the traffic improvement thread, the Mayor was talking about improving safety by introducing cycle lanes. They can introduce what they like here, but it will be abused until they introduce a proper police force who impose real deterrents (I'm jumping onto my soapbox again  ).

Get a bigger soapbox, BB. I'm sure there's quite a few would stand with you.

I cycle it 2-3 times a week usually in a group and yes it has multiple signs on the southern side saying bicycles only no motorcycles (in Thai and English) but not much notice is taken.
The Thai guys that ride with us shout abuse at motorised vehicle users and we have written to the Mayor but nothing makes any difference.
This has resulted in many people now feeling it's safer to ride on the highway than risk the narrow cycle path with its assortment of vehicles, workers and potentially fatal obstacles either side of the path (concrete pointed flower boxes).

Anyone reading this who enjoys the challenge of moderately serious road bike cycling we are a small little group of like minded individuals (Farang & Thai, Tourist & Ex Pat) who enjoy riding around Hua Hin and would welcome more people to join us. Check out Facebook Hua Hin Roadies
