New rules and procedures coming..?
Some excerpts:
Thailand has joined the United Nation's Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020, which aims to cut road accidents and fatality rates by half. However, Thailand currently has the second worst death toll on the roads with more than 20,000 people killed each year, according to the World Health Organisation.
PRIVATE schools may become responsible for the training and testing of people who apply for driver’s licences over the next two years under a proposal being considered by the Department of Land Transport (DLT).
Thai Traffic Police say 1.4 million tickets were issued last year but only 400,000 tickets were paid.
Mandatory attendance at private driving school will be a large part of the new plan
The national road safety committee chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan on Wednesday resolved to amend related laws to promote safer roads under a "Difficult to Get, Easy to Lose" programme.

Well that seems the wrong way round to me.
Should read, Driving licences Easy to get, difficult to lose.
Any "Private" driving schools will be a licence to print money and we will see more idiots on the road.
Back handers in return for being able to "pass the driving test" will become the norm.

I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.

I sat in the back whilst a friend was being 'taught' to drive. The instructor new less about traffic laws and the correct way to drive than the police, and they know very little, proven by their own driving!

Private driving schools ‘will be mandatory’
I sent my misses to a driving school when we lived in Bangkok. After 7 hours tuition I took her on the back roads in our old manual drive (she was beimg taught in a manual).
It was all going quite well. Seatbelt on, mirrors realigned, first gear engaged and the the clutch very slowly came up and off we went......at 3 mph.
I asked when she intended on hitting the gas, she replied they hadn't gotten to that part yet.
I asked what shed been doing during tue 7 hours tuition. She said exactly what she'd just shown me.
Sounded like a convoy of learners were following each other in a large circle at minimal speed.
Complete waste of time and money.
I then had to go through one of the most painful 2 months of my life teaching her.
Never ever again will I try to teach someone how to drive. The ultimate test of patience.
