Re: The bikers thread
No rain! The overcast lasted most of the way there and made for cooler riding. Old #3 road must have been 'freshened' in the last couple of years and was good. The last 5 - 10 km into Chonburi were rougher and had the sandy shoulders as Pete mentioned but really nothing to worry about. This was a huge event, I'd guess 25 - 30,000 attended!! The area in front of the stage could have accommodated them all, and the bands (that we heard) were pretty good, we pulled out around 9 pm and after about 45 minutes getting out to the highway (gridlock due to poor traffic control) and another 15 minutes threading thru the blocked highway, 1 1/2 hours back to hotel! Riding with forum members "buksida" & "ginganinga" was a pleasure. All in all great weekend!!

Re: The bikers thread
Big thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Gin Tonic for a fantastic weekend. Without your superior navigation skills the trip would never have been a success.
The bike show was incredible, I've never seen so many amazing bikes in one location. Only wished I could have stayed longer - next time though. I thoroughly recommend the trip, even for non-biking enthusiasts as there was plenty to see. Some amazing cars on display and lots more.
For those wishing to take the route in future; the maps below show the ferry location. 10thb per transfer and virtually no hanging around.
Looking forward to the next trip very soon.
Ginjaninja.

Yep, great ride, great festival - that's what it was; Glastonbury with bikes! I've been to a lot of bike weeks but none on the immense scale of this one at Burapha. Literally stalls, stages, tents and bikes as far as you could see - it made Hua Hin Bike Week look like a back yard party!

Re: The bikers thread
I didn't think of that possibility. Assume you went west from Silverlake back to Sukhumvit to get to Pattaya. You probably should have gone the other way, east, up and through the Queen's forest/animal reserve and then down the hill to hit 331, turn left to 36 (about 20km) and then into Pattaya arriving at Sukhumvit between central and north Pattaya. Longer, but faster if clogged going the other way. Re: The bikers thread
A few of us are going for a day-trip tomorrow...
Meeting at Powerbuy car-park @ 09:15 (soi 88 Hua Hin).
Route is: up to Kang Krechan reservoir for lunch and returning via Chaam for a coffee.
Bikers welcome to attend.
Apologies for the very late post but I've just returned from a two-day trip down to Bang Saphan.
P.M. me if you need my number.

Re: The bikers thread
Are the rides taken at a leisurely pace or more "clinging onto your handlebars"?
Would like to join any small trips at the weekend, but am not a fast rider, on a phathom 250..

Hi MwD
I can only speak for last saturday, and in my opinion the pace where just fine. Not too fast and not too slow. We where a group of 6 bikes ranging from a 250 Honda to a 1300 Yamaha. Gin Tonic - No Ice took the lead as he know the roads, and he probably isn't the slowest rider around. But no one got lost and I am sure everybody had a great day.

Re: The bikers thread
Hi. Yes I will be riding tomorrow. How about south via Pak Nam Pran, Dolphin Bay, Sam Roi Yot, lunch in Prachuap. Back mostly on Petchkasem (although it is very rough heading to HH). This is over 200 km round trip and I usually run about 120 kph on the divided highway. If a faster group gets ahead, we stop every once in a while to regroup. Meet 9:30 @ El Murphy's gassed and ready to go! Cheers..
Re: The bikers thread
Sounds like a great trip. See you there.
