Bus crash kills drivers, 44 passengers hurt
The two drivers on a long-haul bus were killed and 44 passengers injured when it hit a steel support for a road sign in Muang district early Tuesday morning.

The double-decker, operated by Lotusphibul Tours, was on the way from Bung Kan to Bangkok.

The Hook 31 rescue foundation reported the accident happened in Muang district about 2am. The bus slammed into a steel leg supporting a sign showing destination directions.

Both the driver and relief driver were killed by the impact and 44 passengers were injured, 12 of them from Laos, the announcement said.

Police at Pho Klang said four injured passengers were in serious condition and were admitted to Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital. The others were treated for injuries and discharged.

Police said the bus had left Nakhon Ratchasima 2 bus terminal after a meal break, heading to Bangkok. It appeared the driver had lost control at a curve while descending to a bridge crossing the northeastern rail track.

One student killed, 15 injured in van accident

https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/ge ... n-accident

Here we go again. These minivans have strict passenger limits and seat belt laws until carrying school kids it seems.
25 kids, 1 driver and most likely a maximum of 14 seat belts. Bonkers.

Most likely the overloading and no seat belt things will be considered minor offences.

I hate that stretch of road - always seem to encounter hoards of big bikes along there. 10 x worse when the Kaeng Krachan Circuit is having a track day.

Not a nice way to go, if there is one. But if the report is correct, then exactly what did they expect may happen! I too have seen this type of behaviour time and time again from motorbikers. The last lot that I encountered were a group from Malaysia doing the same thing. :?

Tourist van plunges into reservoir in southern Thailand
SURAT THANI: A tourist van plunged into the reservoir of the Rajjaprabha dam in this southern province on Sunday morning. Fortunately, only the driver was injured.

The incident took place at about 10am at a pier on the reservoir .in tambon Khao Phang of Ban Takhun district while tourism personnel were welcoming visitors to boat trips.

Suddenly a white Toyota van sped to the end of the high concrete pier and plunged into the reservoir. The front of the van hit the bottom close to the bank while its rear smashed into a steel pontoon before the whole vehicle sank.

Even now some of these accidents shock me. :( This one even more so as no other vehicle involved. He must have been flying.

A Mercedes-Benz car overturned on Kanchanaphisek Road in Bangkok's Saphan Sung area on Friday morning. A man and a woman were ejected from the vehicle and killed. Car wreckage was scattered across the road.

Bang Chan police questioned witnesses and learned that at the time of the accident, the Mercedes was driving at high speed. While coming down from the bridge over the motorway, it's believed the driver may have been startled by potholes on the road surface and swerved to avoid them, causing the car to lose control and crash into the roadside.

Obviously can’t tell from only what has been said, but by the sound of it, the occupants being ejected from the vehicle suggests they probably weren’t wearing seat belts - whether that would have saved them can’t be said as the wreckage looks so severe - what a terrible way to go!!
