16 people in a mini-van. I thought they were regulated to a maximum of 13 passengers these days, with 10 passengers being the norm.

Yes, there are several versions of the same truth being bandied around - the key thing is though, despite how different the numbers are, the Gov't has met their targets every time.

Seventeen Chinese tourists were injured, two seriously, when their bus driver lost control of the vehicle at a road curve Tuesday morning in Phuket province's Thalang district. A child was among those injured. They were on their way to Similand Islands.

Maybe Thailand would have a better chance at luring the Chinese back if they could keep their busses and vans on the road :duck:

The video of this looks like something out of a movie. Those truck drivers are utter lunatics, this idiot should be locked up, RIP to the poor train driver, its a very dangerous job in Thailand. .

13 Danish passengers injured in van crash, driver killed
A Thai driver was killed and all 13 young Danish passengers injured, three of them seriously, when their van veered off a hillside road and plunged into a ravine in Pai district of Mae Hong Son province on Thursday night.

The van, carrying 10 Danish women and three Danish men, deviated from Highway 1095 at kilometre makers 82-83 between Mae Ya and Mae Ping checkpoints in tambon Mae Hee, said Pol Lt Col Suwit Boonyaphen, Mae Hong Son tourist police inspector, who was reported around 9.45pm.

The collision claimed the life of Thai driver Baramee Panyajachaiya, 50, and left all 13 passengers injured, with three sustaining serious injuries. All were sent to Chiang Mai Ram and Pai hospitals.

Acccording to a preliminary investigation, the van left Chiang Mai province at 6.30pm on Thursday for Pai district. The tourists, aged between 19 and 25, intended to attend the popular Full Moon Party at a restaurant in Pai.

When the van arrived at the spot, the driver, believed to be unfamiliar with the terrian, lost control at a curve, causing the vehicle to veer off the road into a deep ravine. The driver sustained severe injuries and was later pronounced dead.

This is the sort of thing that requires nothing but the full force of the law - I hope he gets 20 years but probably more like a fine!!

His first day in Thailand. The Chinese will go back into their fearful do not visit mode once again concerning this place once they read this.

I stopped at a zebra crossing a couple of days ago. It was outside a school, with kids wanting to cross. Normally I am very reluctant to stop unless I'm 200% sure it is safe, but always make an exception at schools. As if I had planned it, as the kids were in front of my car, Somchai with a Line Food box on the back of his motorcycle went speeding down the kid's blind side. Fortunately nobody was hurt, but zebra crossings are deadly in Thailand, purely because of the 'me first' attitude.
