Auto repair need - door lock not working

Post by paul406 »

I have a Honda City that has a a failed door lock on the driver's side.
It no longer accepts the key. lubricants not helping, definitely time for repair.

Any recommendations on a mechanic in Hua Hin?

Or if there are threads to this topic already covered, links are appreciated too.

Thanks to you all

If you have some mechanical knowledge, try getting hold of some Graphite Powder dry lubricant, that is what a lot of people use on door locks rather than liquid WD40 stuff.

If that does not work, 1st check the price of a new lock with your dealer.

2nd option is to swop over your existing lock and put the passenger on the drivers side and the other on the passenger. All you would have to do is manually lock the passenger door.
When swopping the locks over you may have to change the lever that connects to the lock rods that is used in the operation of the lock. Is normally held on with a circlip, if you cannot get the lever off, you will just have to buy a new lock.

Other option is to take the lock out and take to a locksmith and see if they can fix it for you.

Hope that helps.
