Driving Schools in Hua Hin

Post by PJG »

Hi all my wife (thai) wants to start learning to drive again in Hua Hin. There used to be a school near to the Gee Aung Thung Supermarket but it seems to have gone now. Does any one know where they have moved to or another driving school.

The one that splitlid is describing above sounds like the one my partner learnt to drive at.
I can't remember the details, but it was a good deal and they successfully got her through the test in a week.

Don't forget

Avoid mirror, signal, then do something different for your manoeuvre and blame everyone else when you have a ding after racing to see what damage is done to your own vehicle and limping as if you have been trampled by a herd of elephants when the police turn up. Sorry, having a cynical day today.

I went there today, 5 hours for 2.000 bahts. This is very expensive for a driving school in Thailand. In Bangkok it was half of that and even more cheaper.

That would be less than half price then?
I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.

Yes, normally about 800-1000 for 5 hours it's a normal price. That's what i have paid in Bangkok. This is Hua Hin, so maybe... but i doubt that thai people are going to pay this super expensive price.

When my partner learnt to drive, she just paid once for a weeks instruction every morning and they got her through the test at the end of the week.
I seem to remember all that costing only a couple of thousand baht.

Anyway a week for learn driving is not enough... i have learned for a year. Can you really drive your car perfectly in only a week ? No one is driving well in Thailand.

I think you've answered that yourself Johan!
Actually I was in the situation that I had a truck registered and insured in my partners name as I'm just a frequent visitor.
I then found out that the insurance is only valid if the insured has a license, whether they're driving the vehicle or not, so I got the driving school just to get her through the test.
Since then the only driving she has done is on local roads in Issan.

My wife bought a car before i know her, she drove it without license or any lessons, she had an accident few days later. She told me this "thai people know how to drive, we don't need to learn".

Yes she's little retarded about this...

Now she want to drive my new car in the same situation but i will not let her drive it, she's little mad.

I still don't understand how their brain works and why they do so stupids and dangerous things everyday.

I went to the driving school today to take a lesson, the guy came with his Toyota and he wasn't wearing the security belt ! Then he asked me to drive, and again, no security belt, i asked him to put it on before start the lesson.

They seem to don't use their head. If you complain or tell them to do it properly they will look you like an alien and think you are the most stupid guy on earth.
