I think they're the same thing.

There are plenty of foreigners who study at the Webster university; mostly Chinese as far as I can tell.
I guess it's not often done by farang because, well, there are better universities pretty much anywhere!

It does seem to open up an opportunity for the "older" student who isn't really interested in learning Thai but would like to achieve a degree as a life goal.

However, the web site quoted has a statement that the school issue a letter to be taken to a Thai embassy to obtain a visa. I guess we could find there would be questions/problems if the person is older, or even retirement age?.....just thinking out loud.

It does seem to open up a different avenue for a visa as compared to needing bank accounts and/or pensions. Pete

they are the same visas but I think Universities can get visas that are easier to renew, cannot remember the exact details.

You can also do a degree online at 2-3 thai universities with only attendance for exams etc, but you can still get a visa.

you could do this for 5 years for the BA
1 year for a Masters,
if you claim you have learning difficulties you could probably drag it out longer.

You get a 1 year Extension... not like the 3 months for Language School.

Just a little oddity with applying for a Ed Visa.... not really related to the above but I am queried almost on a daily basis... Ed Visa applicants have to provide their parent's names, occupation and religion on their application form to the Education Department. Ask at the department and they reply that they have no idea whey but it has always been there.

One amusing application... the student was an orphan, had no idea who is parents was... so we said so in the application. Education sent it back and said just write something there.

I don't suppose that's a major problem unless they require proof. In fact, I can imagine spending an amusing few minutes dreaming up some (un)suitable entries!
