Like many others I wish had had the money to afford it!
And it does not end there either!
Next comes 4 years of university tuition fees, accomodation and living expenses in Bangkok (?)
Yep I thought about that, what do you reckon 7 Million baht to completion for 1 child?

Congratulations. It is almost identical to what we had in mind when we first established our school in Hua Hin. However, funds were lacking.

Pleasing to note long term plans are to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) examinations.

Hua Hin international school Year 7

Post by zetam »

We visited presentation of new Hua Hin international school in Intercontinental hotel yesterday.

They are going to open Primary school by September 2015 (price around 150 000 THB per Term, 3 Terms in academic year).

As for Secondary school, they have not decided timing yet. But they said that if they get 15-20 requests for Year 7 (11-12 year old in 2015), they will open Year 7 also in 2015. There were around 10 parents in the meeting that are going to enroll their children to Year 7 the next year.

So if anyone have 10-11 year old children and would like to see them in this international school the next year, please send a message to the school (their site is huahinschool dot com).

Thanks!

A figure was quoted that 60% of students at inernational schools in major cities, bkk,HK,spore have their fees paid by daddy's company.
For many schools it is much higher than that. I know of several families who deliberately stayed ex pat in order to keep their children in quality inter schools.

450k/year x 3 children that is way out of my price range. My kids like Yaamsard I think we will stay there.

That's exactly what my company did for its expats and it was very expensive in places like Singapore and most of the Middle East.

Don't know anything about International Schools, but are there a lot of expat families with young children living here? Also need to be on large salaries. I only really see retired guys who become fathers again in their old age.

I think they will have to (and I heard a rumour they might) reduce their fees. Asking that sort of Bangkok-type fee is not really practical for Hua Hin, they would have very few students I'd say.

I don't want to steal their thunder but some schools give a 20% discount if the child has a Thai birth certificate, and another 3% if you pay the entire year at the beginning of Term 1.

Well, they officially announced the fee structure yesterday evening during the event - don't think they are already planning to reduce the fees. However, what they did say is that for the first hundred or so the registration fee of THB 60,000 would be waived. Discount is given for the third child.....

The school will be build in three phases and will be growing along with Hua Hin. To be honest I don't think they are looking for hundreds of student to kick-off. That's why the original plan was only for primary school respectively until year 7 to open.

Cheers.

You would be surprised of the number of retired guys who are here playing golf and not living on a govt pension with a new wife/life and child who are interested in this school

I think that initially it will be difficult for them to charge these fees. They need to have a proven record of success...and then maybe the fees would be acceptable to a few who are subsidised by employers or simply have the cash. My employer in BKK covers 75% of tuition fees and starting fees. Most international schools also have general fees, in addition to cover food, books and then of course you have the uniforms to purchase...not cheap. Most employers do not cover the additional fees or perhaps summer school fees, extracurricular activities etc. It's a very lucrative business.

They also think of opening Year 7 in 2015, but they need at least 15 requests from parents of 10-11 year old children (who will be 11-12 year old the next year). They currently have around 10 requests. So if anyone is interested of putting his/her child to Year 7 of this international school the next year, please drop them a line.
