Long holiday to boost tourism, TAT predicts 2.44m on the move in period

Thai people are expected to make 2.44 million trips inside the country during the long holiday of July 16-20, according to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).

The cabinet recently declared July 18 a public holiday, giving Thais a five-day holiday period. Asarnha Bucha Day falls on July 19 and Buddhist Lent Day on July 20. >.................................more

It;s not difficult to stock alcoholic drinks for those dry days. Long holidays might boost tourism, but what about the loss for those bars or restaurants not allowed to sell alcoholic drinks. And with all bars closed, areas in darkness like a city under curfew. Actually nobody knows if we will have only one or two shitty days.

I'm in Bangkok this weekend will there be a ban on alcoholic drinks there

The dry days are next Tuesday (19th) and Wednesday (20th) for Asarnha Bucha and Buddhist Lent, so your BKK weekend should be safe.... :cheers:

Sorry should have made myself clearer I arrive this weekend but in Bangkok till Thursday

Let's see if they publish a road accident body count as they do at New Years and Songkran. I imagine the numbers will be the same.
