Going out of town turn right at the traffic lights immediately after the palace, Just follow that road for about a mile, or a little more.

I have been to the seafront at Soi 19 for the last 2 years - on both occasions it took the best part of an hour to get back to the Phetkasem which spoliled the evening a little...!

Tomorrow we're downsizing to Wat Sai Yoi (a small temple by the sea just to the south of the Novotel in Baan Kwai)

What time do things start at the Soi 19 event? Also is the floating market(s) on Soi 112 worth a look and what would be the right time to turn up there to see the Krathongs being floated?

In anticipation thanks

Some information at last :D

The Hua Hin Parade will happen this evening. It will start from Soi 51 and travel South towards the clock tower. It usually starts just as the sun goes down.

This is information given out this morning by teachers at my eldest granddaughter's school. Basically, the kids are being told they need to be in position by 6pm.

If any of you know any different, please post revisions here,

Thanks Big Boy, hopefully someother residents will post more info about the events, frustrating that the city fathers don't broadcast more info or maybe they do, but not in english.

We've just been to Makro, so as usual, I had a look around.

19 Rai - absolutely no sign of any organised event. Of course, there is easy access to the beach here to float your boat.

Pone Kingpetch Park - a notice has gone up saying there will be a concert, best Loy competition, opportunity to float your boat, etc, etc.

Depending upon how busy I am, I might take a drive to Khao Tao later to see what's going on ......................... unless somebody can tell us already.

I know one thing and that's I'm not moving out of this house much after the time of this post.
I got "provisions" in at 8am. My wife has already been to see her mother in the temple. So, our sins for last year must be OK now.
Mind you, if the procession is starting around soi 51, I just might just take a look and pray. Just to make sure.

Well, we ventured down ti Khao Tao to see if anything was happening.

They're definitely gearing up to take huge money this evening - it's just a case of how many million Baht they can take. All sorts of merchandise was being moved in to sell, pick-up loaded with fresh meat to cook and sell were everywhere, stalls were busily manufacturing Loys to sell, the launch station was in place, decorated with brightly coloured bunting, a stage has been errected - it's going to be a good night.

Of course, if you decide to visit, you will encounter the worst traffic mayhem you are ever likely to encounter. It is very dangerous, and fatalities often occur. Personally, I have vowed never to risk it on a Loy Krathong evening again - I value my family too much. However, when you get there, it is well worth it.

Thai driving antics and trying to squeeze a gallon of Thai traffic into a pint pot doesn't work very well. Just be careful please.

I should have said, loads of beer being put on ice, so no restriction seems to be in place.
