IF..& I do mean IF..you are going to ride a m/cycle thru' town on the 13th, one little tip is to wear what I call 'Grinding goggles'..fit snug & keep the bulk of the water & talc out of your eyes..(& are a saviour when that little twat maliciously slings water right at your face at point-blank range). :tsk: :guns:
All hardware stores have them, & cheap...worked for me each N.Yr when we've ridden down to our bar... :thumb:

I believe there is always a parade going from the station down to the beach on Songkran day so can anyone confirm what time this usually takes place

From memory it goes along the Hilton Road between 3 and 4. Things normally quieten down a bit after the parade i.e. many (including me) start to filter their way home.

The parade starts between 11.30 am and noon at Phon Kingphet (besided Municipality/Tourism Info) and should finish off at about 3.30pm at the Hilton Area. The route goes from Phon Kingphet down Sra Song Road, turns right onto Chomsin Road and then through Naresdamn Road.

Cheers,
B

Still a terrific effort in the heat, especially if the sun shines.

If you're in the Bintablock area, you will know when droves of people start moving towards the Hilton.

Well tonight was my 15 th Songkran in Hua hin! Mrs N and I enjoyed Romantic Bar and it was noticeably less aggressive on the Binta block! There were less of the supa soakers, more people with small water pistols or bowels. There was still a lot of powder but it was being applied gently and avoiding the eyes. Lots of smiles and happy Thais, less aggressive drunk tourists......felt like I had gone back 10 years. I hope tomorrow will be the same!
Enjoying 'Retirement'....So many jobs to do, I don't know how I ever had time to work!

In all honesty, I can safely say I'd rather be drenched from a 'supa soaker' than have someone empty the contents of their bowels over me. That would be really shitty.
