A Very Merry Christmas to all Members, Current, Old and New

The club is currently enjoying its seasonal December break. Training will re-commence as follows:

Monday 7th January @ 7pm Children’s Traditional Karate
Tuesday 8th January @ 8:30am Adult Traditional Karate
Wednesday 9th January @ 7pm Kumite Training
Thursday 10th January – private lessons
Friday 11th January @ 7pm Children’s Traditional Karate
Tuesday 15th January @ 3:30pm Children’s Traditional Karate at Hua Hin International School.

The coming year will see a few visiting Senseis in March from our parent UK club, including:

Sensei George
Sensei Paul
Sensei Martin

We are also hoping to see Sensei David, and there is a possibility our Chief Instructor, Sense George Grimes will be able to make the journey, but still to be confirmed.

It is always good to see these Senseis (many of whom taught Sensei John) in our Dojo. They always bring just that little bit extra to lessons, which is very welcome.

So, here’s hoping you have a great time during the season to be jolly, and Sensei John hopes to see you all on parade early in the New Year.

Thank you - I had to look a long time to spot my 'deliberate' error.

Hua Hin Marathon 2019

The Hua Hin Marathon is on Sunday, May 12, 2019. Sensei John would like to enter a team of children in to the event - of course, the club will pay their entrance fees. He would only enter the 5Km run, because several children are quite young.

Sensei John, his wife and hopefully Sensei Tony would accompany the children on the run to ensure they are safe.

All competitors will receive a running shirt and a medal for completing the course. Food is also included together with accident insurance.

Sensei John will also provide a club shirt for his team to run in. Yes, it's a race, but this will be more team building than racing. the intention will be to start and finish as a team, so the slowest runner will dictate the pace.

The run will start at 5:45am, which may be a bigger challenge for some. We would need to meet at Wat Khao Krailart between 5 and 5:15am.

The number of entrants is limited, so we need to know names by 18th Jan 19.

Once we know names, we will design the team shirt and have them manufactured, so we will be providing size charts, and asking for your child's size.

So please confirm your child's intention to complete by Friday next week.

We will get the ball rolling after that. It should be fun.

CLUB ANNOUNCEMENT

The current period between gradings has been very disrupted with a combination of Sensei John's Honeymoon and now the Armando competition.

The next grading and assessments session has been moved to the right a couple of times to accommodate the disruption.

Sensei John acknowledges that the disruption has affected some student's preparation in this period. To compensate, he is offering an additional FREE session on Thursday 1st August. He would like to see as many students who are grading or assessing at the additional session. Training times will be the usual 7pm until 9pm.

CLUB ANNOUNCEMENT

Firstly, the good news. 2 of our students, Nat and Nam will be representing Prachuap in the forthcoming All Thailand Youth Games at Uthai Thani in November. They travel on 27th November, Returning on 1st December. So congratulations to both of them, and I’m sure we’ll all be rooting for them.

The bad news is Sensei John will be travelling with them to oversee his students.

This means significant disruption to the regular training schedule. It is made even worse because it happens close to the final training week of 2019 i.e. John’s work commitments mean the club has to close every December.

Our training schedule will need to change accordingly i.e.:

Monday 25th November – Children’s Class as normal
Tuesday 26th November – Adult Class as normal
Tuesday 26th November – HHIS as normal
Wednesday 27th November – Kumite Training cancelled
Thursday 28th November – Private Class cancelled
Friday 29th November – Children’s Class cancelled

Monday 2nd December – schedule resumes as normal.

Friday 6th December – final class of 2019 + Grading and Assessments.

Some exciting news for our little club. After being rejected by the Thailand Karate Federation (TKF) almost 7 years ago, Sensei John has applied for affiliation again this year. The good news is his application has been accepted, so the club is now officially recognised.

Yes, I agree entirely! It probably helped that club members are now representing PKK in national competitions!!

Well done.
