Re: Geography Challange
^Correct, named after British explorer Henry Hudson. Over to you d-m.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Okay, can you tell me (without googling) where is the lowest area of land on the planet (i.e. below sea level)?
This is the way
Re: Geography Challange
I would say either Death Valley, or the Dead Sea. Not sure which.

Not very decisive, Pete, but I'll give you that!
The Dead Sea Depression, running through Jordan, Israel and Syria. 413 metres below sea level.
Death Valley comes in at a humble no. 8 - 86 metres below sea level.

List the top 10 if you have them handy...would be interesting to know.

Re: Geography Challange
You should have asked to name only 1 other than the Dead Sea or Death Valley. No one would have gotten any without Google IMO. The only other I've heard of is the Saltan Sea area. Pete

Re: Geography Challange
Caught this one late - and (for once) one I would have known for sure. I've been lucky enough to have visited quite a few places around the world and the "Dead Sea" is one of the most bizarre.
Stupidly hot when we visited - and me being a Welsh idiot, when we did have a "dip" kept eyes wide open going underwater..... Salt content of the water is one of, if not the highest of any body of water in the world, and not very forgiving! Nothing survives in this kind of environment - hence the name, but to visit is an experience. Floating on water here is nothing to boast about - I reckon I could have walked it...... (or is that Blasphemy?)
