Lou Reed - RIP

Post by lomuamart »

Just noticed that he passed away yesterday. Knew he was very ill but this still comes as a shock. RIP, Lou.

Yes, great artist and sad news. Just been reading about it here as its still 'new' news.

Keep meaning to get Transformer on CD as well as the later 'Songs for Drella' with John Cale, now seems as good a time as any. Love the Drella thing, about the life and death of Andy Warhol (the show is available on you tube).

Wow, didn't know this. Gutted. I must have listened to transformer on repeat for about 2 years in my mid-twenties. Will be missed!

Sad times. You "Walked On the Wild Side" and gave so many of us such pleasure with your song writing & poetry, such inspiration during the '70's. So much to remember..."Perfect day" from Trainspotting ..... RIP Lou.

Indeed today is not a perfect day. A great musician and composer, commentator on life and liver of it to the full. Thanks to a mate I met at Uni got well into uncle Lou and spent many a day listening to his stuff. I also loved his co-operative stuff, and this one he produced for the BBC Children In Need appeal is one of my faves

This one because its how my ex got her name

and this because no matter how old you get, you never stop being a Goth

Cheers Lou and thanks for the great tunes

Yet another great singer and songwriter gone. So sad.
I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.

Blimey, I didn't realise he was 71. I always picture him in my mind looking the way he did when he released 'Walk on the Wild Side'. Seeing a recent photo of him was quite a shock. He wasn't the greatest singer, but he was one of a kind, and I enjoyed his music. He did pretty well surviving as long as he did in the music industry, and all that goes with it.

He will always be remembered for "take a walk on the wild side" but he was so much more.
