Closing Times in Hua Hin

Post by l112a6 »

Why were the nightclubs closed tonight? (02/04/18) Why are the bar and club closing times failing to meet the standards of other tourist destinations in Thailand?
I am not a big party guy, but on occasions I do like to meet friends or play pool past the early bar closing time of 1AM. What has happened to this town in the last few years? Isn't tourism important anymore? Many people I know on holiday label Hua Hin as 'Boring' It's embarrassing and terrible for the tourist industry. Can't shop after 8PM, can't party after 1AM. What is the end goal here?
Long-term resident looking to move because of the way it's become. It will only get worse IMO.

I think you'll find Hua Hin is very relaxed compared with Chiang Mai.

Except that a lot of people like it this way. The long-term residents in fact are generally older than the people you are talking about who want regularly to party into the small hours. Check the people you see walking around all day. They aren't large stag parties or groups of backpacking Aussies in elephant pants (no offence meant to elephant pants). Those are the type of punters that keep bars open late, and as you say, I think the plan for Hua Hin is not to encourage that type of tourism. This is not a new phenomenon, AFAIK.

The 'standards' of tourist destinations are not really the point, it's the tourists themselves that need to check their requirements and pick their destinations accordingly.

There are more than enough tourists/customers when it's open. Older residents won't be affected by the bars opening at the usual times (Not talking about extending the opening times, merely not reducing them further!)
You've only got to pop down once to see how busy it is. Just depends whether they are allowed to open or not.

Also back to my original question, as I'm interested.

The last early closing was after the murder of a Thai on soi 41 late at night so perhaps this is a reaction to the two women that were stabbed on Monday night.

when you say nightclubs , do you mean the karaoke places near the Hilton,
I think some of them may not open on a monday during low season,

Getting a late drink is not hard in HH but you will find that most bars that do allow late drinks 230-4am , do so behind closed doors to people that live close by.

As on yesterday Bintabaht was open until 1:00
Hilton disco until 2:00 then closed by police coming in and saying time to close - lights on. Just enforcing a rule?

This closing time thing seems a little exaggerated to me, when I see bars advertising Champions League, live starting at 01:45 tonight.

It's really stupid. Other places matches in Champions League is a sure thing for extra income for bars and restaurants. Here in Hua Hin the bars must close when Champions League matches starts    :guns: :guns: :guns: :cuss: :cuss: :cuss: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

The new owner of Cat Bar was around yesterday and said the latest closure is due to another shooting/stabbing. 4 people dead in total in recent weeks. Closure was said to be for a couple of days so all the nightclubs probably open now as usual. It had delayed his official opening party which is now planned for Thursday.
