What are people doing that is so important that they can't hit the bars before 9pm, and then grumble when they close at midnight?

Whether you are on the beach, playing golf or whatever, your daytime schedule is going to wind down at sundown, which you gives you time to freshen up and grab some food, ready to hit the bars at 7pm.

- Even a seasoned boozer like me knows that five hours is ample time to get plastered...
I may be drunk, Miss, but in the morning I shall be sober and you will still be ugly...

I normally go out at around ten which is a bit close to midnight if that is all that is happening.

Well being a tourist myself going out late is all part of the fun,I get enough early rises and early nights in blighty to last a lifetime,so my month in the LOS is spent doing the contrary to the daily grind and I imagine a lot of guys like me feel that's the way to go if you're on your holidays...........

So what are you doing between 8 and 10?

OK, so when you're sitting in the plane, waiting for it to land at BKK, advance your watch by eight hours (nine in the winter) instead of the usual six or seven.

If you did that today, you'd find that sunset in Hua Hin is within five minutes of sunset in London.

Alternatively, think of a trip to the LoS as a British summer holiday, leave your watch at home, and head out an hour after sundown, as you would back home..

- Simples!

I often go for a cycle ride just before it gets dark so when I get back from that I like to relax for a few hours and often have the odd bottle with the neighbours. It's ironic really, when I started drinking in about 1980, the pubs in the UK used to close at 22.30 and everywhere else in the world used to be open much later but now I find myself living abroad, the situation slowly seems to be reversing.

Well when I'm on my british summer holiday (in Greece before I discovered LOS) I still headed out late and got home even later,I guess that's the difference between being a holidaymaker or an expat ! besides I couldn't possibly live on a different timescale from the rest of the population. But when I eventually get to HH in September I won't half be gutted to find I don't get to sing Beatles songs (badly) in the kroaky-oaky area way past midnight when I've had too many changs from my crawl round the binta, having said that it wouldn't do me any harm to seek the dark-side(Luke) on soi 80 if the worst happens.Could this boy get a song or two to come together in my life like dreamers do in that soi ? or am I going to have to drive my car with a little help from my friends down the long and winding road to get back after a hard days night ?

I don't want to spoil the party, when you Do the hippie hippie shake, but if you want A taste of honey you can do that Any time at all.

You need to pay a barfine if you want A ticket to ride, and don't ask Why don't we do it in the road as she'll say that's Too much monkey business. Always check that She's a woman, and bear in mind that if she calls herself Sexy Sadie or Eleanor Rigby, she's probably a ladyboy.

After A hard day's night playing The fool on the hill on soi 80, you can take your Lady madonna. Always remind yourself that When i get home i must use a rubber as she's been with Some other guy.

If you're lucky she'll say Roll over Beethoven and ask if she can use The tip of my tongue on your Yellow submarine.

Always remember to say Thankyou girl, and don't be Mean Mr Mustard. When she's says Not a second time you'll be thinking I'm in love and Keep your hands off my baby and she'll be thinking, Money, that's want I want.

And Act Naturally when the Russians are around, in case you Twist and shout and end up Back in the USSR.

Are they still forcing the 12am closure of bars in town? Asking since I'm about 1 week from going home to Hua Hin and would be nice to know the status.

I've said it before, I'll say it again, after years of working the Emergency Room.I know one thing for sure--The Knife and Gun club starts its meetings after midnight. The bad stuff is always after midnight--- so I try to be a Cinderella.

Common sense would suggest that those who like to partake are more likely to be first up if they go a bit earlier than midnight. Just a thought.
