Did they?
I saw this

Can't see why any one would be offended, and can well imagine the vast majority of bar girls feeling distinctly out of place.
Anyway, this is really not my argument. I just think it's a bit of a shame that we keep criticising local businesses for not supporting the forum, then when they do become sponsors, we start slagging them off for no good reason. Eh bien - C'est la vie.
DM & JW I try and patronize establishments that advertise, but all because they advertise does not mean that they should be impervious to this being a forum and people being entitled to having an opinion. It SHOULD NOT buy them immunity from criticism. I have gone to restaurants that were recommended here and it was nothing like what was described. To not say something as long as it is truthfull to not hurt the owner, only hurts forum members that will then be open to a bad encounter
We will have big party with free food and lots of beautiful people (believe this!) on Saturday the 4th (and at midnight it is the 5th), 5-o de Mayo, a Mexican holiday. Mexican-themed party!
(2) And remember today isLadies Super-Saturday, free Sangria or a Singha for ladies between 7 and 9, and 2-for-1 cocktails all night for ladies

I applaud Le Bar Francais for trying to offer something a little different and for me it was obvious what the gist was with the reference to the ladies they're trying to attract and therefore those they're not trying to attract.
While not a resident in HH I do visit on a regular basis and it's nice to be able to try a new establishment with a new slant.
Having said that, if the place is decorated accordingly, the menu is somewhat unique, has high calibre, professional staff dressed in the manner in which the establishment is attempting to pitch itself, I'd say the clientelle will fall into a category naturally.
I can't imagine a group of bargirls even wanting to be somewhere like this. It's not their scene.
The problem with making statements relating to "nice ladies" is who's definition is that? I don't think there was any need to make that statement at all, although I do think foodie has over reacted.
What will the owner/manager do if a respectable westerner brings a girl with him who is dressed like a bargirl? Or if she's dressed nicely but known to be a bargirl? Will they politely ask them to leave? That wouldn't do the business any good at all. If the girl was drunk, different story, but I doubt a westerner would embarrass himself by bringing in a drunk bargirl.
While I don't take any offence to what the owner is trying to achieve I don't think there was any need to make the statement. It could have been said in a positive way rather than risking alienating potential customers on this board.

It’s none of my business what people say and think of me. I am what I am and do what I do. I expect nothing and accept everything. It makes life so much easier.

Dave T... I think it was put quite clearly.
No "working" on the bar premises (or unaccompanied working girls)
I can see both sides to the debate. The bar dont want drunken women in the bar . If we go in when on holiday the kids and me will make sure the wife stays outside. Everywhere we go shes giving old men the come on and it really grates on me and it was only last week when i got home from work she was there in the kitchen drinking sang som through 15 straws from a small metal bucket. We had to go parents evening later on aswell. These bar girls eh. She was a real scallywag in her patong days. What you want in a bar is old couples that havent got much to say to each other while the husbands having a good perv round cos the wife hasnt given him a snif since their 25th wedding anniversary. Doubt il be visiting the bar but doubt il be missed either. Nice to see something diffrent on offer
Iv just had a look on bar francais website and the picture at the bottom with the 4 teeraks on looks a bit dodgy. The two girls on the left look like trouble. They both have that issan same head syndrome. Not for me. Wouldnt take my mates either

With your racist opinions, as you said in you previous mail........ I agree with you......"I doubt that you will be missed"

Sorry i didnt mean to be racist. I guess i must be though. I was just pointing out that they look like dogs and former/current bar girls. Real tripe but the clientele are supposed to be upmarket to gain entry
Sounds like hes already pissed off as its just dawned on him that hes opened a place that sells intoxicating liquor next door to a 300 baht throw off joint. Plus the fact that hes on the doorstep of the local mucky area.
Bit like living in the countryside but complaining when the farmer does his shit spreading.
