Yeah, maybe we could start a thread called "Where are all the positive developer stories?"

No worries here... I don't have a fat wallet!
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

For me, the biggest danger here is long black hair, big dark eyes, and long shapely legs.. They get me in lots more trouble than thieves or muggers![/quote]

It is the same in any city whether Bangkok or singapore ( which is reputedly 'safe') ...U hit places which does'nt look safe is gonna cost u ...I've been in a spot in certain safe cities and also felt protected in the so called dangerous one's ..
Re: how safe at night
I have been to Hua Hin about 8 times and never had any problems day or night

Same-same Ed & Crazy.
Grew up in Hollywood in the 'kinda' good days and honestly feel safer in Bangkok and, certainly, HH than here now. Of course, having at least a working knowledge of the language and a respect for where you're travelling never hurts.

Hi All,
Been a lurker for a good few years, never had much relevant to add until now although enjoyed reading all your posts.
Mother-in-law is/was a lottery seller in town, she was returning to her rented room for the evening when she was mugged at gun point. It looks like the thief knew she was returning with a lot of money (200k) from a few months worth of sales.
Yes I’ve already asked all the obvious questions like what was she doing carrying all that money, not using a bank, staying alone etc etc.
At least she did the sensible thing and just handed over the money and didn’t try to fight back and get hurt.
I guess this is the sort of crime that doesn’t get reported much.
At present we don’t know any more details as her phone was also taken, just that she’s safe and on her way home up North.

I'm very happy she is safe, but I too wonder why she was carrying that much money. I am a big strong foreigner, and I never carry over 20k.

Yes, It does beg the question doesn't it.
I have recently heard that the motorcycle thievery thing is back in style along the northern edge of Bintablock and the ocean side soi (Naresdamri), but that it is Thai on Thai and tends therefore not to get reported, or picked up on by the Farang community. Apparently mostly girls getting their handbags snatched.

Had enough of the trolls. Going to sleep. I may be some time....

Not much more you can say to that, crazy amount of money to be carrying around, glad she's safe though.sonarhead wrote:Yes I’ve already asked all the obvious questions like what was she doing carrying all that money, not using a bank, staying alone etc etc.
Keep posting anyway.
Re: how safe at night
She did the right thing. Sounds like they must have known she was carrying an excessive amount of cash. Scary...sonarhead wrote:

Re: how safe at night
cheers crazy!
I see it like this.
Carry what you're willing to lose in your pocket; be it from food, drink, slot machines....etc.
Carry the rest in your pants......lose that and you've no one to blame but yerself.
