My family are avid Chelsea supporters and had they not been in Hua Hin I am sure they would have travelled to Cardif for the match. As it was they watched it in the friendly relaxed atmosphere of El-Murphys, able to drink and eat at the same time. Judging by the crowds in most of the other bars there were many other supporters away from home as well. As for travelling on trains in the UK, the last time I travelled on a train in the UK it smelt as though the egg chasers had just departed! By the way I have not found a Liverpool supporter who can remember how many of the last 21 games Chelsea have won against them, select memory I think!

Aren't the FA Cup, Community Shield & Play off finals one off occasions?

Yes Jamie, they are, but as they are normally played on a Sunday (Not Saturday), it is a bit hard to make a weekend out of it as most people have to work on Monday.
Most of the Rugby Internationals are played Saturday afternoons

If the reschedueled the games to a Saturday, people could stay overnight and the return during the day on the Sunday without any problems.

Would imagine it is all to due with TV commitments that they have to be played on a Sunday

The TRUE ones were at Cardiff. The glory hunting ones weren't.
Its as simple as that
There WAS a rumour that some fans thought Wembley was ready, so went there instead :D
One a slight side issue, do you think Ballack could prove to be a bad buy?
It seems he has a history of losing interest in games where he cant get involved. He spent 30 minutes being "owned" by Sissoko, then suddenly developed an injury, to be taken off.

And the effect it would have had on the real football being played the same day. Unlike other seasons, the Premiership is starting a bit late this year because of the World Cup. There is a fear that the smaller clubs would suffer if Chelsea vs Liverpool was being televised at the same time as the small clubs were playing.
Championship Stoke City 3 - 0 Plymouth Argyle

Points 48; Position 20

Maybe the Chelski fans have swtiched their alliances to the Villa.

Ellis out, Randy Lerner in, O'Neill in...

MUst admit I too have a soft spot for PLymouth. I had two friends back the UK, father and son who were avid supporters. Evetually they move back and get to see all the home games. I have another friend here in Hua Hin who is from Plymouth. I will be watching them carefully this year. Seven points already. It will take Hull til Xmas to get that.

If I started a poll"who will come second in the championship" Plymouth would definitely be there. Got the best boy for the job as well.

BTW. I have just heard a rumour that the FB Risee may make a move to Chelsea.

True but some of the six nations and European club games are also played on a Sunday and it doesn't affect the event because most visitors write off the Friday and Monday anyway. In any event, very few come by car and like I posted earlier it is a different supporter culture.

Actually toni i did try to use the train for football matches a few years ago. Leaving from warwickshire, going to Newcastle(my team) i would have to change at burton on trent which is ok going but on the return back down it meant an overnight stay in Burton to catch the early morning train. Just a rubbish transfer and £30 more than it would cost to travel up in my car. I did enquire though.

Not much to say about Newcastle's chances of anything this year!!!! Hopeful but like the plymouth guy, realistic!!
