You don't say? :lach:

I think you've totally missed the comparison point here.

The 2006 English team. I can only name three of them. As far as I know only one is still playing. Who can put it all in order and tell what they are all doing now. Pete

Terry was with Aston Villa last season but he left when they didn't make it out of the Championship. I think he's officially retired now? Crouch is still with Stoke I think, and Gerrard managing the Rangers?

Ashley Cole still plays in the US.

Terry is doing pre-season training with Chelsea and will presumably find a new club for next season.

I hope for all of the QF's, they select referees of the right standard, unlike the one who did England's game yesterday. He was way out of his depth.

It would help if they get VAR's of a decent standard too. :tsk:

A lot of chit-chat since Tuesday, but very little about the game and England's performance. Like they did against Tunisia, they started strong, very strong. 0-0 at half-time, then yet another rugby tackle on Kane, some disgraceful antics from the Colombians that ought to see them collectively punished, and a remarkably cool penalty by Kane.

The goal in added time was totally against the run of play and must have been a devastating blow to the English team. In extra time the impetus moved to the Colombians, but we hung on for a shoot-out. When Henderson's penalty was saved, I doubt there was anyone in England not thinking "here we go again", but thanks to Trippier, Dier and Pickford, we got there in the end.

A good match, but a bit dirty on both sides.
Dirty on both sides Don? Colombia should have finished with 8 men, head butts and over protesting to the referee, but then I am biased.
True, but I did see a few fouls from England players as well.
Still, the best men won, that’s what counts in the end.
I'm not sure what game you were watching, Don, but how you can compare the 'dirty' aspects of the two teams is completely beyond me.

One last thing, I'm still waiting for BB to say something positive about Kane. If it wasn't for him, we'd probably be on the plane home by now.

Make that two last things: I still don't understand why Young is in the team ahead of Rose.
This is the way

^ England were no angels by any means, but crikey, not too sure Columbia should even finished with 8 players. In rugby at least there is a "Citing Commissioner" that can refer foul play to a panel after reviewing TV coverage after the match - is there anything in place with football (considering VAR)?

I'm certainly no expert on the game, but surely this referee should have been nowhere near the stadium, let alone ref'ing the match. The Colombians were absolutely mind-blowing in their foul play.

Anywho, best of luck to the Lillywhites and really do hope they move forward - if not even win the damn thing (and this coming from a Welshman)!!!

One BB will no doubt "enjoy". Quote from the Guardian (UK): -

"Pep Guardiola drew a little heat last season by calling Spurs “the Harry Kane team”, but England are in effect the Harry Kane Nation, their captain not just the best No 9, but the best No 10 too, best crosser, best passer near goal and one really consistent hope of registering in the goals column."

:lach: yeah, right.
I think it's more of a case that we've played 3 shite teams and a dead rubber friendly that we're still there.

Quite possibly the worst world cup ever for the standard and quality of football, and the officiating too for that matter. :|
