Arsenal trigger Jamie Vardy’s release clause in move for Leicester striker

https://www.theguardian.com/football/20 ... ?CMP=fb_gu

"Arsenal have triggered the release clause in Jamie Vardy’s contract and are ready to prise the England international from Leicester City in a deal worth around £20m. Arsène Wenger’s pursuit of Vardy represents a significant shift from Arsenal’s transfer policy in the past but the striker’s availability for a relatively modest fee, and the alternative option that he provides in attack with his searing pace, has fuelled the manager’s interest."......

An interesting dilemma for Vardy, more so for him than most, given the special season they had and all the badge-kissing and adoration.

Should he go? I'm not sure he should, to be honest - depends how much he needs the money. He'll turn 30 in January, so you couldn't blame him if he cashed in...

Robbin Von Purse was same age when he went to ManU and helped them to a title. For that kind of fee, I'd be happy to see Vardy in Gunners' colours. He has 3-4 seasons left in him. That is if he doesn't adapt to our ways of injuries.

Man united fans seem to change their tune faster than the flapping wings of a hummingbird. Just skip to 0:25 to see a bunch of fans who will apparently side with the devil in order to get a result. 'Desperate' doesn't even cut it.

Jamie Vardy: Leicester City striker agrees new contract

A massive boost for Leicester. It will be very interesting to see if they have another good run in them. I don't think so - mid-table at best.

I have to say that I just couldn't see Arsenal and Vardy being a good fit, so wherever Leicester finish next season, I think he has made the right choice. Ranieri plays to his players strengths, the Wenger way is the only way at Arsenal. Same with Mourinho, but he has a more successful format.

Yes,I think Vardy has made the right decision as well.Leicester play to his strengths and its difficult to see how he would fit in to Arsenals style of play.
Also,I think Giroud is a decent enough striker at the Emirates....not world class but pretty good in the Premiership....Arsenal fans views may differ ! :rasta:
But don't you Gooners fans be too downhearted as your former legendary striker,Emmanuel Adebayor,is available on a free !

For those of you who have a crap internet connection like me, and cannot use the plethora of sport channels on offer, be advised that TRUE will be broadcastig EPL again from this season.

Lucky for me I did not waste my time transferring to CTH for the last 3 years.................

So - if you have the Gold or Platinum TRUE package then stand - by for the good news to be officially advertised.

I honestly wish Moyes well in this new position and hope he gets his feet back under him again. Pete
