F.A. Cup 2014-15

Post by Bamboo Grove »

Just watched on stream Warrington Town beat Exeter 1-0. What a great cupset. This is what f.a. cup is all about, innit? Then remembered this: A good friend of mine hails from Carlisle and we were both in Thailand when this happened. I know, it wasn't F.A. Cup but if you look at the crowd in the end of the match, it could have been the final, eh?

About halfway between Liverpool and Manchester.
It's more well known for it's rugby league team.

This is what the FA Cup is all about, giving the minnows a chance to upset the big boys - ok Exeter are not exactly one of the big boys, but they were 100 league places above Warrington. The statistics paint a one way pasting, 26 shots and 8 on target against 8 & 2, 72% possession against 28%, but the only one that counts is one goal to nil. Let's hope for a few more upsets in the 3rd round when the real big boys enter the fray.

To me, it's all about picking up unnecessary bookings and injuries. I truly hope the Green Army get stuffed by the minnows today.

[Edit] Mind you, it's great to be able to laugh at Devon's poor rivals for a day.
Championship Stoke City 3 - 0 Plymouth Argyle

Points 48; Position 20

Totally agree, doesn't happen often but it does put a smile on your face when it does.

Just got back from the beer festival. Now, tell me are these results true or is it the April fools day?

Chelsea 2 Bradford 4

Man City 0 Middlesbrough 2

Southampton 2 Crystal Palace 3

Tottenham 1 Leicester 2

Cheez, I should drink more beer if this is what happens then.

Yes, a hell of a lot more exciting than the PL, isn't it. The news had comparison salaries and for most winners yesterday, total season for the whole team equals about 1 month pay for a top PL player. Really no surprises there.

The consensus is, and I agree, these teams have nothing to lose and nothing is really expected of them. So they play with abandon. Good stuff! :D Pete

My own personal view is that the FA cup is about honour. The League title and getting in or staying in the Premier league is about money. Therefore to sacrifice the FA cup to be able to focus on league position is a financial decision. Just my view
