Very good work at a great price ! You were lucky that you did not expose the pulps, sometimes the nerves will die off several years later following a knock like this - look out for the affected teeth going darker in colour and or pain when drinking hot. If the pain goes away with a cold drink seek attention as you may need root canal work.

My wife needed some dental care a few weeks ago and we went to Bangkok Hospital. She really appreciated their service and as far as we as laymen can judge, they did a very good job. When we compare the fees to Swedish dental fees, we think the treatment was really cheap. However, I'm sure that they probably not cheap compared to other dentists in Thailand.

We are now back in Sweden and her Swedish dentist was impressed of the treatment she had at Bangkok Hospital. So if any of us need to visit a dentist in HH again, we will certainly go to Bangkok Hospital.

Hi,
I'm going to be in Hua Hin from the 5th of November for about 4 to 5 nights, on my way to Koh Tao.
I haven't been to a dentist for the last 3 years and have alot of work to be done in my mouth.
After a cleaning, I think there will be about 20 composite fillings to be made
So I guess this will be at least 3 seatings for about 2 hours each.
With this in mind and my narrow time schedule, I want to make an advanced booking with a good dentist in town.
So I read as many reviews as I could about the dentists in Hua Hin...
The expa'ts #1 dentist, seems to be the HH dental clinic on soi 104/2. Unfortunately they have no proper website. Anybody know if the prices are comparable to say Cool Smile or Perfect Smile and does anybody has some contact detail?
For the others ... CoolS*, PerfectS*, DazzlingS* and what else. Can anybody suggest one of those for such kind of treatments?
The Bangkok Hostpital seems to get good reviews, but afterall might get a bit expensive for so many treatments.

Cheers, Max

My family used to go to C**lsmile however I had an abscessed tooth that needed a root canal. After going for three appointments I go to another C**lsmile dentist to have the cap put in and she informs me the other dentist made it too short. OK that was bad paying all that money for nothing and losing the tooth. However to make matters worse I found out that they mixed up my records with another patient who has the same first name as me.

Now we go to Bangkok Hospital and they have been great. The prices are about the same but the service is far better as is the record keeping. Also I like the detailed billing to submit to my insurance company.

I found their Google+ Site https://plus.google.com/108730659174334752289
email: huahindentalclinic@gmail.com
phone: 089/7784074

I inquired prices for fillings with composite and got quoted 800b per tooth.
Compared to the other "smiling" dentists in HH, this is 2-300 Baht more for that treatment.
Is it worth paying that premium for her services?

what was the outcome?

I went to s smile because the website advertised periodontal services. the dentist who saw me was just out of thai dental school and was not a periodontist. she did a good job of cleaning my teeth but it wasn't a periodontal cleaning. big difference.

Bad expirience at Cool Smile

Post by usual suspect »

My wife has only been to a dentist for a tooth out once..I went with her to Cool Smile on Nechbahart Rd..the female dentist understood my beloved's fear, & did indeed extract the offending molar in a gentle manner..my wife was happy.
So then when she felt like a simple de-scale she went back to the same place..yes I went with her because (like myself) loath anything to do with dentists.
As soon as the Dr had her in the chair she chatted softly to wifey, & within 2 mins she was having an x-ray done!
(I thought hello..good old chinese running-up the bill from the start.)
Then she explained to the wife that the proceedure may be painful & administered 4 (yes 4!) injections to numb her jaw...now I'm sat there thinking WTF..injections for a clean-up..??
More soft talking from this Dr & she gets to work..just short of 1 hour later my wife's face is like a football, no way can she speak/utter any words..yes this cow has given her teeth a clean-up..
..& EXTRACTED/RAGGED A TOOTH OUT WHILE SHE WAS AT IT!!..Without asking my wife..!

Now it's 2 hours since we left the dentist & my wife STILL cannot talk & is in great pain with face still swollen!
...Cool Smile??..never again!!
Wife considering complaining, but how far would that get her in this country..?

They were prepping one of my tooths for a cap, after 3 visits I went to the dentist that would do the cap and she said the previous dentist ground the tooth too low. Then I found out they were mixing up my dental records with another farang when I noticed my bills had the wrong surname. Now it is Bangkok hospital only for my family, they have been very pro so far.

I used to get cleanings at their office on Petch. Every time was a different dentist. Last year, after a cursory visual exam, the dentist announced I needed a specific procedure. I'd had one done years ago and knew there is no way one could diagnose it through visual exam. I declined. Next visit a different dentist announced I needed a set of molar caps because brushing had worn down my teeth. I declined. The next week I went to a real dentist who failed to find either of the two problems Cool Smile found. It's obvious to me Cool Smile is pushing unnecessary procedures. I'd say that's unethical, possibly criminal, but TIT.

Whether in Thailand or anywhere else if you feel you have had bad treatment complain to the professional body. Thailand has made great strides in medical and dental care resulting in a large medical tourism business this would be put at risk by unprofessional practitioners. By complaining through appropriate channels you have a chance to make a difference. If complaining do so in a polite way avoiding personal attacks and don't over egg the pudding, keep to the facts.

While I agree with the above post, I'm astonished at the apparent reluctance to deal directly with the 'offenders'. If I went to the dentist to have my teeth cleaned and somehow ended up having X-rays, injections and a tooth extracted without my consent, I would at the very least be asking the dentist some pertinent questions, and I certainly wouldn't pay for the unsolicited treatment.

Whilst in way taking sides !! My understanding was that the patient attended previously for an extraction then returned for a check up. At that point the dentist discussed what she intended to do. She then took some radiographs which 100% correct for an examination. The purpose of radiographs is to check for hidden decay under old fillings, periodontal disease ,presence of infection etc and can also be used to explain to the patient what's going on. It sounds like the patient needed more than a simple scale and polish was required hence the local anaesthetics( LA in the lower jaw will numb the patient from ear to ear and last at least three hours) I can't defend the extraction but again the x Rays may explain what was going on. The biggest problem here has been a communication break down and perhaps too much being done at that appointment. However using intemperant language on a public forum seriously undermines any future complaint procedures. Sometimes we all need a rant to relieve our frustrations however it would have been better to return to the dentist for a full explanation of events then go higher up the food chain if required.
