Thai Expressions That Make Me Smile
Re: Thai Expressions That Make Me Smile
Ok, I just heard "jing jing lao" on another phone conversation in the middle of a long sentence with no change in tone (not a question or exclamation)... the "jing" mystery continues...
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
Re: Thai Expressions That Make Me Smile
Well anybody or anybodies partner can tell me what this means please?
Wife bought me a tee shirt with this on 5 years ago and I've heard about a dozen sort of explanations

Looking at other people's girlfriends makes you happy ... or something to that effect.

Or even...Looking at other peoples partners is refreshing.
Re: Thai Expressions That Make Me Smile
Well I've had three different answers from Thai guys and gals
1) You like looking at other peoples girls and it makes you happy
2) You are a butterfly
3) You have a good heart because your partner made it so

Richard, whilst I am sure all three apply to you , my wife says that number 1 is the closest to being correct!!richard wrote:Well I've had three different answers from Thai guys and gals

Jing jing loa (or however you spell it) is a way to drive a point home.
If for example you told your wife you would fix something on the weekend, and she expressed doubt, you could then say something like..."honest, I really will get to it".
The Thais just use the jing jing loa instead, although to me it sounds more like "ching ching loa", with the loa bit a little drawn out.
So, mystery solved.
Don't try to impress me with your manner of dress cos a monkey himself is a monkey no less - cold fact

Knowing Richard (a little) I'd say number 2 makes the most sense.
