Today I went to the Post Office to mail a package via EMS. I put the box on the counter and say “EMS”. The clerk says back to me “สองเดือน”. I think, gee, that’s a long time (two months) for EMS to Phuket. But I say, “OK”, pay and go.
While cycling home I realize that he probably said “ส่งด่วน” (express delivery), which makes a lot more sense….
But, after all these years I still can't hear the difference.
สองเดือน or ส่งด่วน

There is a hearing centre located at the Lotuswell Resort ( past Elephant Village ) which has top western specialists - so this might help?
Courage is grace under pressure and when circumstances change you change your mind.

It's a mental problem, not a hearing problem. I've had my hearing tested. It's fine; especially for a 66 year old man.
It's just that when I try and use Thai in conversation my brain freezes and fear and loathing set in.
